Filmed along the Southern Oregon Coast, the fourth feature film from Barbed Wire Media, “Bad Fish,” is set to release in 2024. Ahead of an official release, producers Brad Douglas and Ray Robison are letting local audiences enjoy a sneak preview of their latest horror-thriller film.

For the 11th rendition of the Klamath Independent Film Festival, Oregon’s lone film fest that exclusively showcases Made-in-Oregon shorts and feature-length films, over 50 selected films will be presented in-person and online Sept. 22-24.
Organized by Klamath Film, a 501c3 nonprofit that serves as the film liaison office for Klamath County, the festival draws filmmakers and film fans from across the state to Klamath Falls for a three-day celebration of films made across Oregon over the past year. This year’s festival has accepted over 50 films – the most in the festival’s history – necessitating additional online exclusives alongside a full slate of film screenings to be held at the Ross Ragland Theater. “You Go Girl!” – the fourth annual Outdoor Adventure Film Grant– “Oregon’s Outdoors Are For Everyone” winner (OAFG21) screened at Sundance 2022 in the U.S. Live Action Short Films, and also the Oregon Shakespeare Festival O site. Filmmakers, Shariffa Ali, Kamilah Long, Courtney Williams, and Adrian Aleas’ short film tells the story of Audrey, a New York City comedian who can make a joke of any situation, facing a staggering challenge in the beautiful mountains of Oregon. Baker’s Place On Oregon’s Film Trail

Oregon is featured in more than 500 films, and a project by the state film office is marking movie locations with informational signs.

Baker County has three signs, all dedicated to the 1969 musical “Paint Your Wagon,” which was filmed here in 1968.

The markers can be found outside Baker Heritage Museum, 2480 Grove St., inside the lodge at Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort, and outside the city hall in Richland, once the ground thaws (this one will eventually be placed at Richland’s future playground).

What has Oregon Film been up to? – After assuring our industry worked so well through the turbulent pandemic period with several projects of all sizes, 2022 started off with a slow down. Needless to say, Oregon is still attractive and a great place to bring your creative production. Recently we worked with the state legislature and partners like the OMPA and the IATSE and SAG-AFTRA unions to increase the film and media cash rebate percentages from 18% to 25%. After a two-year pandemic delay, Southern Oregon University has launched its innovative, new, 12-credit spring immersion course called “The Crew Experience.” Student filmmakers spend an entire term learning on location, collaborating under the supervision of faculty and experienced industry mentors on the set of a significant film project designed to emulate the professional working environment.

Traditionally held in Ashland, Oregon, the Killer Valley Comedy Film Festival will stream virtually through their website for one more year, as live theaters still struggle with opening up to a viewing public in 2021.

Following the success of celebrating independent horror films for over a decade, the Killer Valley team spawned a second genre film festival to celebrate the best original comedy films from underground and emerging filmmakers.
