Oregon Film is proud to announce the winners of their Impact Grants for Feature Films. Designed to support film projects that will make a positive impact on Oregon’s film industry, this grant aims to help grow Oregon’s film scene, create local job opportunities, and bring people together through stories that celebrate Oregon’s culture, history, and landscape.

Karina Lomelin Ripper Recognized as Princess Grace Award Honoraria

Emmys Nominations with Oregon Connections

Although we aren’t lucky enough this year to have any projects that were shot here in Oregon being nominated for an Emmy award, we do have several people who live here in Oregon that have been part of the nominations. In fact, that is one of the stronger selling points of Oregon, our talent. Sometimes that talent isn’t able to work in our state but we like to celebrate them anyway.

Oregon Director Wins at LALIFF

Karina Lomelin Ripper took home the prize for “Best Latina Director” for a live action short at the LA Latino International Film Festival this past week.

“Directed with an unshakeable sense of tone” the short film, developed and created through the AFI Conservatory, “There’s a Devil Inside Me” demonstrates the depth of talent living and working in Oregon.

Portland Post Production Grant Awardees

The Portland Events and Film Office, in partnership with Travel Portland, is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Post Production Grant to four feature films.  The funding is designed to encourage the completion of a local feature-length film and position local producers to build toward larger, more resourced productions. Past recipients of the Post-Production Grant include Trash Baby, directed by Jacy Mairs (which premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival), and G. Miller Foundation Launches Spark Awards for Artists

The application for the 2025 Spark Award for Oregon Artists is now available to individual midcareer artists creating original work in the disciplines of literary and media art. Launched in 2024, the Spark Award is a three-year pilot program during which the Miller Foundation expects to support 60 individual Oregon artists in total (20 per year) across artistic disciplines by awarding a grant of $25,000 to each selected artist. Last year, 20 performing artists received the award. In this second year, we are accepting applications from literary and media artists and in 2026 the Foundation will support 20 visual artists. #OregonMade “Why Dig…” Nominated by NewFilmmakers LA

NewFilmmakers Los Angeles has released the nominees and jury for its 14th annual awards that recognize the top rising talent in independent film globally. Oregon filmmaker Cambria Matlow’s “Why Dig When You Can Pluck” was nominated.

The awards will recognize 130 nominees spanning 16 award categories, encompassing directors, writers, producers, performers, cinematographers, editors, sound designers, and composers. These outstanding nominees were chosen from NFMLA’s most recent programming year, which took place in 2024 and reflect some of the most promising emerging independent filmmakers globally. Catalyst Collective Script to Screen Grant Now $15,000

In case you missed it, Catalyst Film Collective are absolutely thrilled to announce Portland Events and Film Office has joined Regional Arts and Culture Council and Funnelbox as a sponsor of Script to Screen 2025! That means, our grant has increased to $15,000, making it the largest short film grant offered in Portland!

Oregon Film Impact Grants for Short Films

The Oregon Film Impact Grants are designed to support filmmakers and projects that have the potential to make a positive and lasting impact on Oregon’s film industry.

There will be two submission phases for these grants. The first will be for short film projects (running time less than 40 mins) while the second will be for feature length projects. Cinema Unbound Awards Announce 2025 Honorees

On Friday, May 30, 2025, Portland Art Museum’s PAM CUT // Center for an Untold Tomorrow hosts the 6th annual Cinema Unbound Awards, honoring multi-disciplinary media artists at the forefront of innovation in arts and culture. A highlight of the West Coast cultural calendar, the evening showcases internationally renowned creative polymaths who share their unbound vision in fresh and innovative ways.

This year’s event honors Sarah Sherman, Marco Brambilla, Earl Ninsom, Carson Ellis, and Colin Meloy.

The evening benefits PAM CUT//Center for an Untold Tomorrow, a vital part of the Portland Art Museum dedicated to celebrating artists who defy labels or easy categorization in cinematic storytelling including film, series, audio storytelling, gaming, animation, and XR.
