The Amplify Portland: Local Filmmakers Production Grant aims to create opportunity for filmmakers utilizing local talent, crew and vendors during production. Our focus is on the professional development of the local industry and bringing exposure to Portland via its presence on screen.

The application for the 2025 Spark Award for Oregon Artists is now available to individual midcareer artists creating original work in the disciplines of literary and media art. Launched in 2024, the Spark Award is a three-year pilot program during which the Miller Foundation expects to support 60 individual Oregon artists in total (20 per year) across artistic disciplines by awarding a grant of $25,000 to each selected artist. Last year, 20 performing artists received the award. In this second year, we are accepting applications from literary and media artists and in 2026 the Foundation will support 20 visual artists. The Oregon Film Impact Grants are designed to support filmmakers and projects that have the potential to make a positive and lasting impact on Oregon’s film industry.
There will be two submission phases for these grants. The first will be for short film projects (running time less than 40 mins) while the second will be for feature length projects. Funding is designed to encourage the completion of local feature-length films and position local producers to build toward larger, more resourced productions.
Grant applications open on Wednesday, March 26. This year, grants of $8,500 each will be awarded.

After a successful weekend for the festival, MSFF announced the winners of the first ever PNW Indigenous Filmmaker Grant this weekend. The Directing team of Olivia Camfield & Woodrow Hunt won the $10,000 grant offered in collaboration with Oregon Film’s Creative Opportunity Program. The grant will help the talented pair to create a piece that will premiere at next year’s MSFF.

Travel Oregon recently highlighted a short doc that was funded as part of the Outdoor Adventure Film Grant awarded by both Travel Oregon and Oregon Film. The film, directed by Portlander Devin Boss, highlights friends’ Oregon Coast journey to experience nature and leave anxiety behind.
Devin Boss recalls watching the waves crash against the rocks at Thor’s Well on his recent Oregon Coast road trip with friends. “It’s probably like in the top five things I’ve ever witnessed in nature,” he says of the natural attraction in Yachats, just down the path from Cape Perpetua Visitors Center.
