Cars In Movies Are More Than Just Props

Audi e-tron GT

Cars are a part of our everyday lives, so they naturally make their way onto the big screen. Here, they serve not only as a means of transportation for the characters brought to life by various actors but also as an advertisement for the automakers who often generally pay for the honor or sometimes donate high-value vehicles. More often than not, these cars are not even the star of the show, such as the BMW E90 3 Series, which has featured in the background of Iron Man 2 and Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol on the silver screen and Orange is the new Black and House of Cards on television. Oregon Film: Who We Are & What We Do (Update 2022)

What has Oregon Film been up to? – After assuring our industry worked so well through the turbulent pandemic period with several projects of all sizes, 2022 started off with a slow down. Needless to say, Oregon is still attractive and a great place to bring your creative production. Recently we worked with the state legislature and partners like the OMPA and the IATSE and SAG-AFTRA unions to increase the film and media cash rebate percentages from 18% to 25%. In addition, the annual funding for the OPIF program increased from $14M to $20M. Continue reading... “Oregon Film: Who We Are & What We Do (Update 2022)”

Portland Filmmaker Josh Hoffman’s “UNDER THE KNIFE” Now Slashing!

Bloated Cat Productions and Penguin Films have unleashed “The New Face of Horror.” UNDER THE KNIFE is a psychedelic journey into the vortex of vanity.

“Beverly travels to South Korea to get plastic surgery, but ends up unknowingly getting a computerized implant from a surgeon who maniacally turns his patients into beautiful killing machines.”

Prep for surgery. This film will get implanted in your head! Bloody deaths, exotic locations, atmospheric nightmares, and much more. Inspired by the fun vibe of 80’s American slashers and the hypnotic visual decadence of 70’s Italian giallo films. #OregonMade Film Series at The Hollywood Theatre: “Zero Effect”

Bill Pullman plays Daryl Zero, the self-described “greatest private investigator in the world,” with Ben Stiller as his lawyer side-kick trying to keep up with paramedic Kim Dickens. Portland plays a prominent role in this 1990’s caper centered around Timber Baron Ryan O’Neal having “lost his keys” and worrying about the contents of a safe deposit box. This is the first film from director Jake Kasdan who started out his career in small roles on his Dad’s (Lawrence) sets before moving on to films like “Walk Hard” and “Bad Teacher.” Continue reading... “#OregonMade Film Series at The Hollywood Theatre: “Zero Effect””

Oregon Film: Who We Are And What We Do – 2021

We are finally seeing the light at the end of a very long tunnel for many of us. This doesn’t mean the work is done or there won’t be challenges and changes going forward, but it does mean that we are starting to see more opportunity and more creativity in all areas of our industry here in Oregon.

We’ve highlighted several stories about our community’s resilience through “The New Normal” series from local companies like Talented Animals, Ravenous Studios, Limbo Films, The Art of Make-up School, PDXpendables, Cast Iron Studios, Koerner Camera and Picture This.
