It’s a Portland first with screenwriter, playwright and teacher Hal Cantor, who has written For Fox Television Studios, Sony Pictures Television and Showtime. Hal will give us his take on the craft and business of writing for television in today’s madcap TV marketplace.

The Outdoor Adventure Film Grant 2019 Announces A Winner!

The second annual Outdoor Adventure Film Grant – “Oregon’s Outdoors Are For Everyone” (OAFG19) announces the winning application – “Three Sisters, Three Rivers” – filmmakers Aly Nicklas, Meredith Meeks and Analise Cleopatra, will spend ten days this summer bikepacking 325 miles through some of Oregon’s most iconic landscapes. Beginning in Bend and ending near Roseburg, the film will address both barriers and entry points for access to wilderness—especially for those of us who are raised without a relationship to the outdoors.

Kick off your summer in the most perfect way possible: doing the Truffle Shuffle.

Yes, that most iconic of #OregonMade films is back as Goonies Never Say Die and this time we’re watching it as it was meant to be seen – on 35mm film. This screening is both to celebrate and support the new Historic Oregon Film Trail and its official kick-off in January in Astoria recognizing “Kindergarten Cop,” “Short Circuit,” and, yes, “The Goonies.” There’s a lot more signs and a lot more films for us all to celebrate and we hope you will join us for this one.

The Ashland Independent Film Festival has announced its lineup for the eighteenth annual festival, April 11-15, 2019, screening in venues across Ashland. The year’s selections include over 150 films chosen from more than eight hundred submitted to the festival, or specially selected by AIFF Artistic and Executive Director Richard Herskowitz. The entire program, including information about show times, live performances, art exhibits, filmmaker TalkBack panels, children’s programs, and more is now online at ashlandfilm.org.

Another highlight will be looking back at our (AEPDX – Animate Everything Portland) Design Week animation invitationals over the past 5 years, as Jamal Qutub has put together a cool “best of” retrospective!

The Art of Makeup – A Career School In Portland

If you haven’t heard yet, there is a career school in town for professional makeup artistry! We provide a quality education in the art, business, and techniques of professional makeup artistry for the film, television, special effects, theater, media, and fashion industries.

The Art of Makeup is an ongoing resource for continuing mentorship, networking, and community job placement assistance. Our graduates are placed on our job board for 18 months with the goal of giving them on set experiential opportunities for continued education and networking opportunities to get them working.

TheDove received the 2019 NRB Television Station of the Year Award on Friday, March 29, at Proclaim 19, the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Anaheim, CA.

The NRB Television Station of the Year Award recognizes a television station that displays innovative and creative programming through its daily schedule; is a force for the Gospel in its coverage of Christian events, issues, and stories; demonstrates a commitment to produce original programming to meet the spiritual needs of its viewing audience; and works in partnership with churches and ministries to provide a media platform for voices unable to be heard elsewhere.

#OregonMade “Kansas City Bomber” & Rose City Rollers Coming April 1

You probably already know about our upcoming screening of Raquel Welch in #OregonMade “Kansas City Bomber” (and, if you don’t, you should), but did you also know that KCB played a part in launching one of Portland’s most iconic sports teams? That’s right – the incomparable Rose City Rollers. And they are now partnering with us to present the film on April 1 at The Hollywood Theatre.

“Kansas City Bomber” played a part the launch of Rose City Rollers, Portland’s premier roller derby league and home to three-time World Champions, the Wheels of Justice.
