Gal Pal Films Announces Debut Documentary “Preservation Pictures”

Gal Pal Films is proud to announce that “Preservation Pictures,” its debut documentary feature, has been acquired by Alexander Street, a leading educational film distributor serving 60,000 universities, colleges, schools and public libraries across the globe. The film will be available beginning Spring 2027 across Alexander Street’s platforms, bringing its story of intergenerational connection to students, educators and communities wherever Alexander Street films are offered.

“Preservation Pictures” first began not as a film, but as an intergenerational program born out of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through a pilot program with Buckman School’s SUN (Schools Uniting Neighborhoods) after-school program, Gal Pal Films paired young students with older adults to learn the craft of documentary filmmaking together. The students turned their cameras on their elder partners, recording their life stories: what they lived through, what they learned and what they hope to pass on. Along the way, students learned about world history, resilience and fresh perspectives firsthand, while the elders learned new production skills and saw their lives preserved in rich cinematic short films . The results are a valuable learning opportunity, deep community connection, and a powerful educational model for bridging the generational divide.

The film had its world premiere at Portland’s Tomorrow Theater in December 2025, where it was met with joyous enthusiastic local support. Its acquisition by Alexander Street marks a major milestone for the film and for Gal Pal Films, ensuring the project’s message will be seen, studied and discussed in classrooms and community settings for years to come.
