The Portland Art Museum will be hosting the Guillermo del Toro: Crafting Pinocchio exhibit this summer. The exhibit is “a celebration and exploration of the inventiveness, passion and artistic cooperation that goes into making a cinematic vision come to life.” The exhibit started at MoMA in New York and is now opening at the Portland Art Museum on June 10th and will run through September 17th, 2023.

Henry Selick’s “Wendell & Wild” was the only animated film to make the recently announced Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) lineup. It will premiere in the Special Presentations section of the festival. “Wendell & Wild” is directed by Henry Selick, (“Coraline“) and co-created with writer and filmmaker Jordan Peele (“Get Out, Us”), Keegan-Michael Key, and Lyric Ross star (voice.)

Shadow Machine announced this week its cast choices for the animated musical feature, “Pinocchio“. Principal photography on “Pinocchio” began last autumn at ShadowMachine’s Portland studio and production has continued uninterrupted during the pandemic.

#OregonMade Netflix film, “All Together Now” released its official trailer for this YA drama that is set to air on August 28th. Starring, Auli’i Cravalho (“Moana”), Rhenzy Feliz, Carol Burnett, and Fred Armisen, this project filmed all over Portland and of course hired an Oregon crew. “All Together Now” is based upon the novel, “Sorta Like a Rockstar,” by Matthew Quick, (who also wrote the novel, “Silver Linings Playbook” and who also took on the initial adaptation of “All Together Now”) the screenplay was directed and co-written by Brett Haley (“Hearts Beat Loud”, “I’ll See You In My Dreams”) and Marc Basch co-wrote. “Fire in Paradise“, the Netflix documentary chronicling the recent (2018) Camp Fire in northern California that killed 85 people, was produced by Gary Kout, based in Ashland, OR. The film was directed by Drea Cooper and Zackary Canapari, for whom Gary has produced many commercial and documentary projects including the award-winning feature doc “T-Rex” and the acclaimed Netflix doc series “Flintown“.
We are excited that the Netflix young adult series, “Trinkets,” will be back in Oregon for season 2 for a 10 episode run that is being dubbed “its final” one, starring, Elodie (Brianna Hildebrand), Moe (Kiana Madeira) and Tabitha (Quintessa Swindell).
