Birds of Neptune, written and directed by Steven Richter (Center of Gravity, Myth of Drowning), is an independent feature film set in Portland, OR, produced by Reverie PDX and Lara Cuddy (The Weather Outside, Cell Count), and scheduled for release in fall 2013.
RESERVE THIS DATE – SATURDAY, JANUARY 26TH! The Ninth Annual OpenLens Festival is a celebration of the independent spirit in Oregon filmmaking. This year’s event features a film critic seminar, a meet-the-filmmaker public reception, film screenings, and a closing reception and awards ceremony. The Saturday, January 26th Festival will be held in the UO Baker Center Auditorium at 320 E. 10th Street in Eugene.
This is the third year the Short Film/Video Competition has accepted films from across the entire state of Oregon.
Portlandia returns January 4th with a whole new, ten episode season of sketches.
Back in August, Portlandia’s director, Johnathan Krisel told the Oregonian that this season was “getting weirder”, so lots to look forward too then! Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein will be working with some returning favorites, like Kyle MacLachlan as Portland’s fictitious mayor, as well as plenty of new characters such as Chloë Sevigny playing a new roommate for Carrie and Fred. However, IFC didn’t want to make hardcore fans wait until January for the new season so they are showing, “Winter In Portlandia” as a special, airing December 14th. “Animal House of Blues”: has been announced today as an Official Selection of the Eugene International Film Festival October 18th- 21st, 2012. Directed by Jay Richardson, class of 2012; with the help of fellow graduating filmmakers.
Subtitled “How an Oregon Community Helped Create a Hollywood Blockbuster (or Two) On a ‘B’ Drive-In Movie Budget”; this next generation of young Oregon filmmakers, formerly from the University of Oregon, stepped up and optioned, filmed and edited Katherine Wilson’s documentary screenplay, as well as licensed her Oregon Film Factory Movie Museum images and artifacts. This year marks the fifth season that Wheel of Fortune has featured a “Going Green” theme week. In past seasons, Pat and Vanna have offered viewers tips for going green and have shared updates about what Sony Pictures is doing to keep the studio lot environmentally-friendly. We were there for the Going Green Week taping and the set looked amazing, complete with a digital waterfall and greenery -both live and re-useable manufactured greens.
