The City of Canby’s Eco Park was added to the Oregon Film Trail and commemorated with a community dedication. NBC’s “Grimm” was filmed in the city’s Eco Park in early 2014. The public celebration was held on Friday, October 29th right in beautiful Eco Park. Canby City’s Economic Development Department assisted production crews to identify a location by providing access to the park and found parking to store trailers, equipment, and crew facilities. We are excited to announce that, along with City of Portland, and Friends of Trees, we will be planting a grove of trees in a north Portland park as a fitting way to say #ThankyouGrimm. “Grimm” the #OregonMade, NBC Universal series, shot in many locations around the metro area. As we bid farewell to “Grimm” and welcome both “The Librarians” and “Portlandia” back for their next seasons this coming Spring and Summer – we wanted to share a very special program we were able to put together last summer with the help of the producers of these shows, Open Signal, the City of Portland and NBC/Universal.
“Grimm” has made Portland home for 7 years, hired around 1,000 people (80 percent of the crew have been local, and about 250 full time crew), spent a little over $55 million each year, and has helped many vendors and support businesses expand in equipment and employees, as well as showcase Portland’s varied locations. The show leaves behind a honed, skilled crew, and world class vendors and services. Last week, The Portland Buisness Journal took a look at all the angles on what the show has brought to Oregon – read more in the links below. Continue reading... ““Grimm” – Gone, But Not Forgotten. PBJ Sums Up 7 years and 6 Seasons”
Over the weekend, “Grimm” NBCUniversal, Comcast, and Nike brought together cast, crew and attendees for the final time, to raise money for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation. Within 3 hours, over $800,000 was raised from the gala’s auction of unique items, and props, from the show that has called Portland their home for 7 years and 6 seasons.
Tomorrow night sees “Grimm“‘s last season premiere – we will all be sad to say goodbye to the show’s quirky and murky portrayal of Portland’s fictitious underbelly, the real city locations, the Wesen, the Police precinct, and the many character actors and stars alike. Six seasons, seven years in the making, and well over 100 episodes later, “Grimm” is set to come to an end, but it leaves behind a healthy and successful legacy of collaboration between the city, NBC, the many crew members, special effects houses, extras, and literally hundreds of local services and vendors.
