The 33rd Sundance Film Festival unveiled it’s line up for 2017. Actor, Macon Blair‘s debut as writer-director of the #OregonMade, “I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore” ,will premiere at the festival, and is entered in the US Dramatic Competition. Oregon Filmmakers Document Land-Use Issues Surrounding The Malheur Takeover And Upcoming Trials

Sue Arbuthnot and Richard Wilhelm, part-time Burns residents, found themselves in the right the place at the right time to document the recent unfolding, and now on-going, issues that were raised during the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge crisis.  The Public News Service followed their story.

AIFF- One Of MovieMaker’s “Coolest Film Festivals In The World, 2016”!

“Brother Nature”, Shot in Klamath Falls, Opened Sept 9th

Lorne Michael’s “Brother Nature” opened September 9th – shot in and around Klamath Falls (down town, Lake of Woods Resort, Keno, among others) for 15 days in the summer of 2014.  The feature brought much financial benefit to local businesses, as well as hiring many Oregon crew.  Starring Taran Killam (“12 Years a Slave”, SNL), Bill Pullman, (“Independance Day”, “Lost Highway”), (Gillian Jacobs “Community”), Bobby Moynihan (SNL, “Inside out” “Sisters”), Rita Wilson (“Sleepless In Seattle”), and Sarah Burns, Ellen Bloodworth, Giancarlo Esposito, Rachael Harris, Kumail Nanjiani, Kenan Thompson and David Wain, and produced by Lorne Michael’s, written by Taran Killam, Mikey Day and Cameron Fay, directed by Matt Villines and Osmany “Oz” Rodriguez. “The General” Celebrates 90th – With Live Score by Mark Orton

“In honor of the 90th Anniversary of the Hollywood Theatre and the 90th Anniversary of Buster Keaton’s classic film, Buster Keaton’s, “The General”, which was shot in Cottage Grove, OR, the Hollywood Theatre and Oregon Film present a state-wide tour of the film with a new live score composed by renowned Portland film composer Mark Orton. (OPB did a short piece on this project which explores Orton’s thoughts and inspiration behind this project.)

#OregonMadeShows Exhibit Opens At PDX

#OregonMadeShows Exibit

In collaboration with PDXART, and many other partners (please see list below) a new exhibit is up on Concourse E, at the Portland International Airport this week.  The exhibit showcases “vignettes” of artifacts, props and images from just a few of the 400+ feature films & television shows that have utilized Oregon as their production backdrop over the years.  From the early silent era films like “Fisherman’s Bride” (shot in Astoria, 1908), to “Grimm”, the popular NBC television series currently shooting in Portland, Oregon has played an important role in production.
