Oregon Film & The OMCF Have Formed An Exciting New Partnership With Film Tourism Startup, SetJetters

The Oregon Film Trail (through Oregon Film, and the Oregon Made Creative Foundation) has partnered with SetJetters – an exciting new mobile app that aggregates global film locations, guides visitors to actual movie scene sites, provides local information, and so much more.

With the Oregon Film Trail spanning over 30 film locations (and growing) and the state hosting over 500 film and television productions, Oregon understands what it means to accommodate movie lovers who seek real-life locations on their travel bucket list.

Stand By Me Day – July 23rd – Brownsville

Every year July 23rd is Stand By Me Day in Brownsville. This year, due to Covid restrictions and not being able to gather a crowd, Historic Brownsville is hoping that fans will come on their own to celebrate this beloved movie. Although there will not be a blueberry pie-eating contest this year fans can walk around town exploring the Oregon Film Trail stops, see the many scene locations from this beloved movie and play a geocache game. A printed map and SetJetters movie scenes will be available.

For The Love Of Oregon Film!

My wife and I are career Youtubers. We travel the country in a 34′ class A Winnebago, documenting our adventures all the way. Between us, we host three channels. I am That Nate Guy on YouTube, Marion is Life Unboxed, and together we are Romancing The States. We recently had the honor of falling in love with the beautiful state of Oregon when the engine in our RV gave out while traversing the mountains of California. Instead of planting ourselves in a boring hotel for 2 months awaiting the repairs, we continued on our journey, exploring Oregon in our little yellow Pontiac G5.

Asian Representation in Upcoming Short Film, “Julia”

Emma Duvall, a Portland-based Korean American filmmaker, saw first hand the lack of diversity in the film industry. Stories told from the Asian American perspective often go untold, and roles for Asian women can be few and far between. Seeking to increase representation, Emma wrote her short film, “Julia”.

Emma based the film on her mother’s experience of growing up in an abusive orphanage in South Korea. It centers on seven-year-old Julia, as she faces a test of friendship, overcomes abuse, and navigates childhood with the odds stacked against her.

Lighthouses of Oregon: A History of Aiding Maritime Navigation Doc By Matt Cook

After half a year or so of hard work, I have completed a full documentary about Oregon’s lighthouses. This movie tells the story of each Oregon lighthouse. These lifesaving structures helped Oregon grow in the early days of the state. Today they stand as very photogenic monuments of our history.

I took on this project because of a love for both my home state and outdoor filmmaking. I find the outdoors to be an escape from everyday life, and I try to show that in videos.

Oregon Film Welcomes New Legislation – Focusing on DEI and Increasing & Expanding Programs

During the last legislative session three new bills were passed that directly effect the work of Oregon Film (OFVO). These bills had the support of the Governor as well as bipartisan support in both chambers of the Oregon state legislature.

The first of these bills passed in the form of HB3010. This bill passed in May and was signed by Gov. Brown in June. HB3010 mandates that all projects participating in the Oregon Production Investment Fund (OPIF) need to have a written Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policy (DEI Policy), make good faith efforts to hire according to that policy, report hiring data to our office and have a written and enactable procedure for the reporting of discrimination and/or harassment at their places of work.

Call for Submissions: OMPA Juneteenth Homepage Takeover

In honor of Juneteenth—a holiday commemorating the freeing of slaves in 1865—OMPA is dedicating the space of our homepage to celebrating Black creators. From June 19-26, our homepage will be a vibrant mosaic of projects and stories from our Black community members. We’ll be promoting the takeover to the community at large, encouraging them to go explore.

Now, we invite Black members of the Oregon production community to submit a photo, video (e.g. reel, trailer), or other visual along with a few sentences that highlight your story/your work.
