PORTLAND, Oregon (January 4, 2013)  The first film Co-Directed by the Brothers Freeman (Cell Count and The Weather Outside) has some new artwork from artist Tom Hodge at The Dude Designs.

“Wake Before I Die” is the story of “Pastor Dan Bennet who moves his family to a small Northwest town and begins to suspect that all might not be as idyllic as he first imagined.

New Fight Performance Classes

This Saturday starts a new block of fight classes to kick off 2013!

The first block of classes is Stick & Weapons of Opportunity. This class is a fantastic intro to weapons work that will open your eyes to a plethora of possibilities. The basis of this class is in Filipino escrima and kali, and we’ll explore how this kind of fight work plays on film and television. If you’re experienced in weapons work for film, we’ve still got plenty to explore – you will grow, regardless of skill level.

Oregon made feature film Cell Count now available on VOD.

PORTLAND, Oregon (December 20th, 2012)  The feature film “Cell Count” made it’s World Premiere at this year’s Fantaspoa Film Festival in Brazil on May 20th.  Since then it has gone to the Macabro Film Festival in Mexico, the Montreal HorrorFest in Canada, Sitges Film Festival in Spain, Rojo Sangre Film Festival in Argentina, Montevideo Fantastico Film Festival in Uruguay, Another Hole in the Head Film Festival in the USA, and Celluloid Screams in the UK.  Director Todd E. Freeman won Best Director and Actor Robert McKeehen won Best Actor at the Montevideo Fantastico Film Festival.

Amazon Announces Six Pilots, Time Warner Invests Big in Maker Studios. Has Digital Content Finally Arrived?

In the entertainment trade websites today there were two big announcements that might indicate that we have finally reached the point where digital content is now a major player in the entertainment industry.  In today’s Variety it was reported that Time Warner has led an investment round of $36million for a 25% stake in Maker Studios.  Maker is one of the leading web based Entertainment outlets, and this investment round puts the valuation of the company at $144million.  That’s real money people!

UPDATED AGAIN- Series Finale of “Leverage” Airs on Christmas Night 10:00 PST What Surprises are Coming?

UPDATED AGAIN – It was just announced that after five great seasons (four in Oregon) “Leverage” is coming to an end on Christmas night.  We’ve been so blessed to have four great seasons in Oregon and we look forward to future TNT and Electric Entertainment productions in the future.  For now though, we’ll look to enjoy the series finale on Christmas night.

EOFF2013: Poised for the new year!

Eastern Oregon Film Festival is coming together. Strong. Friends of the festival are stepping up and becoming members. Businesses, organizations, and industry professionals are helping to create a sustainable ‘force-to-be-reckoned-with’ in beautiful La Grande, Oregon.

Last Year

We felt warm embraces by local and regional audiences, were humbled with the presence of more guest artists than ever, and saw a 30% increase in attendance. EOFF was one of the first festivals to utilize Skype technology for its Q/As. This past edition we held conversations with emerging artists Evan GlodellTristan PattersonSophia Takal, and Dustin Guy Defa.

“Portlandia” Starts Season 3 on January 4 – But Lots of Goodies to See Now

So did you see the winter special of “Portlandia”?  If not you can stil grab it for FREE on iTunes!  Now it’s time to get ready for Season 3 which premieres on January 4.  One cool addition to season 3 is “Kumail Visits Portlandia” which is on the IFC show website.  Make sure you see his visit to the real feminist bookstore!

NW Film Center School of Film: Winter Classes begin in January

Join other artists, creators, communicators, business professionals, and explorers, who want to hone and develop their skills in filmmaking.

Winter classes begin with a $10 Super Saturday Workshops on January 5, which includes Avid for Final Cut Users and Sound Doctor. Core & topic classes begin January 14 and include Art of Film I, Screenwriting Intensive, and Video Production in the Workplace.
