It’s been a busy summer for us interns at Oregon Film compared to what most people our age are doing right now: swimming, camping, and vacationing in general. Today the Emmy Nominations were announced and “Portlandia” came away with two big nominations. The show was nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. Writers Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein, Jonathan Kreisel and Karey Dornetto were all listed in the nomination. The show was also recognized for Outstanding Directing in a Variety Series thanks to Jonathan Kreisel’s amazing direction. The episode Jonathan was recognized for was “One Moore Episode” which was voted by the fans as the best episode to date. Intertwine. Speaking the word makes one think of grape vines in a vineyard, snakes, tangles and knots. It almost never has positive connotations and reminds us that dealing with something that is intertwined with something else means that as simple as the issue seems at first, it’s going to get very complicated very quickly. Welcome to the world of Intertwine.

In case you hadn’t heard, there was a 10 day festival celebrating Portland’s arts, culture and music scene recently and Portland Monthly has a great recap here. Travel Portland was there selling the city as a great destination and when Laura Guimond was in the Paris metro she saw this poster. Pretty cool huh?

Portland Mayor, Sam Adams, is rallying behind Portlandia for Emmy consideration in twelve categories, including Outstanding Variety Series. Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisens’ hit sketch comedy series has already completed two seasons in Portland and is coming back for a third this year. The show won an Emmy in 2011 for Outstanding Costumes For A Variety/Music Program.
This year marks the fifth season that Wheel of Fortune has featured a “Going Green” theme week. In past seasons, Pat and Vanna have offered viewers tips for going green and have shared updates about what Sony Pictures is doing to keep the studio lot environmentally-friendly. As well as the kick off Going Green Week, the show is also featuring, Portland Week, College Week and the Great Outdoors. See the schedule for air dates on KATU below:
