Eastern Oregon Film Festival Releases Music Program for October’s 3rd Annual Festival

EOFF2011 releases headlining musicians to accompany 3 nights of independent cinema in Eastern Oregon. The 2011 Eastern Oregon Film Festival will be held on October 20th – October 22nd in historic downtown La Grande, Oregon. The three day event features award winning independent cinema and hottest up and coming bands from the northwest.

EOFF after-parties will feature the likes of Portlandʼs Jared Mees & The Grown Children, Boiseʼs Hillfolk Noir, Finn Riggins, and Atomic Mama, La Grandeʼs own, Elidila and Sons of Guns, and from Pendleton, Oregon – J.D.

Portland,OR-based filmmakers Brandon Roberts and Tara Johnson-Medinger look to the community and Kickstarter to raise $20,000 by October 31^st, 2011 to fund the next phase of effort in this classic “girl meets boy” tale with a gothic twist.

Good Works Film Festival

Welcome to Good Works Film Festival, a first-time event in Eugene (with a kick-off screening in Portland). We are presenting a series of acclaimed feature-length films with an array of social justice themes.

GWFF is not only about great films; what happens once the lights come on is equally important. The festival celebrates and encourages thoughtful discussion, community engagement and positive action, and will be providing a context, time and space for this to occur.

Numerous organizations and groups will participate, in the audience post-screening discussions with filmmakers, panels or roundtables, by providing resources and by networking and socializing at the festival Hub.

Gus Van Sant and James Franco to Screen “My Own Private River”

On September 25 Gus Van Sant and James Franco will be at the Hollywood Theater to screen their film “My Own Private River” which is a re-imagined look at Van Sant’s classic film ‘My Own Private Idaho”. After their collaboration on “Milk”, Gus shared with Franco the original dailies from the film and the two came up with the idea of re-cutting the film. The film recently was shown at the Toronto Film Festival and received largely positive reviews.

Film/TV Hairstyling Workshop Comes to the Northwest

Colour Box Makeup Studios, which has offered four film/TV makeup workshops in Portland and Seattle over the last two years, returns to Seattle Oct. 8 for a one-day class in film/TV hairstyling. The class will be hosted by 2011 Emmy nominee and Colour Box founder Kerry Herta and veteran celebrity hairstylist Lara Cilento.
