This afternoon, Governor Kate Brown joined members of the “Grimm” cast and crew along with the City of Portland, State of Oregon elected officials, and representatives from  Oregon Film, Friends of Trees, Friends of Pier Park and Comcast/NBC. They all came together to plant a small grove of trees in beautiful Pier Park, North Portland, creating a lasting tribute to the work and the legacy of the long running show. The Chasing Grace Project, is a six-part documentary series “that brings together a community that is creating change for women in tech – – right now” and is an initiative to give a voice to women in tech and to keep the conversation going as a way to create change. Kelly Reichardt and Neil Kopps’ latest feature, “Certain Women” (written and directed by Reichardt) opened  to great reviews (New York Times, Variety, LA Times,Vanity Fair) and a strong box office (#2 indie box office.)

The small town of Brownsville, Oregon celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the classic movie “Stand By Me” on Saturday July 23, 2016.

In 1985 Brownsville was turned into a town named Castle Rock and was teaming with film crews, actors and all the excitement of the movie making process. On August 8, 1986 the movie had a limited release at 16 theaters around the country. Today, 30 years later, the fans are more passionate than ever before and yearn to visit the locations of their favorite movie and mingle with others who are just as passionate. This traveling film festival, which will visit over 175 cities this season, spotlights the work of a diverse array of talented women filmmakers with intelligent, funny and thought-provoking themes. Sundance announced today it’s world premiere festival lineup, and the latest Kelly Reichardt film, “Certain Women” (written and directed by Reichardt) is in the mix.  Although Reichardt, and her producer Neil Kopp,  have shot most of their projects in Oregon (“Night Moves“, “Meek’s Cutoff“,”Wendy and Lucy“, “Old Joy“) this film was shot elsewhere, but post was done here in the state.

SOAR, a new documentary featuring local dancers Kiera Brinkley and Uriah Boyd and directed by local filmmaker Susan Hess Logeais, will premiere on Thursday, October 22 at 7:30 pm.  The screening will take place at the Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland), and will feature a Q&A with the director Susan Hess Logeais as well as co-producers Kiera Brinkley and Uriah Boyd.
