LOS ANGELES, CA  October 11, 2013Fox Searchlight Pictures announced that director Jean-Marc Valléebegan principal photography in Oregon this week on WILD. The film stars Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon (WALK THE LINE, MUD).  The screenplay is adapted by Oscar nominated writer Nick Hornby (AN EDUCATION, High Fidelity) from author Cheryl Strayed’s NY Times #1 best-seller Wild, the book that re-launched Oprah’s Book Club 2.0.

“House of Last Things” is Big in Russia… Gains 1st Distribution Deal

 

Congrats to HOUSE OF LAST THINGS on their first international release today in Russia through CMS FILM. The Bartlett directed thriller was one of Oregon’s first independent features to recieve an i-OPIF grant. The film premiered in France in January and has since been selected for festivals in Brazil, Germany, and Mexico. The Russian package includes theatrical, dvd, and online

OPIF Tax Credit Auction is Open – DOR Website is Up

The October Oregon Production Investment Fund Auction is now open.  This time the total amount of tax credits to be auctioned will be $4,000,000.  The process will be exactly like the successful auction conducted in July.  It’s important to know that there is only time for one more OPIF auction this year so we will be working hard to make sure all $4,000,000 sells out in the designated time frame.

PixelSea – An Animated Video Installation by Cardboard Castle

Award-winning motion graphics and design house, Cardboard Castle, proudly presents an evening of wonder featuring an immersive video installation inspired by the ethereal beauty of the deep sea.

Infusing digital animation with the ghostly movements of underwater creatures, viewers will float through a vivid ocean dreamscape buoyed on an ambient musical score.

Animators from Cardboard Castle will be on hand to discuss the exhibit and answer any questions from guests. This will be a casual and informative event designed to provide the local community with a window into the creative process at Cardboard Castle.

15th Annual Scriptapalooza Television Writing Competition 

Our intention is to help open doors for the aspiring television writer. There are four categories you can submit to, which include one hour existing shows, 1 hour existing sitcom, original pilots, and reality shows.

The participants we have chosen to read the winning scripts are individuals from established production companies. Whether you are already an aspiring television writer or a writer interested in exploring other avenues, Scriptapalooza TV is here to promote careers in television and provide exposure for the undiscovered writer.

OPIF Credit Auction is Almost Here!

Oregon is leading the show in film production.  There are tax incentives to be had from producing here.  What’s not clear is where the funding comes from.  Or more precisely why taxpayers would be inclined to contribute to OPIF.   Truth is, there are significant tax savings to be had on the giving end (taxpayer) as well as the receiving end (production).  In order for Oregon to continue to make available OPIF tax credits, there must be demand for the credits from taxpayers.

“Wild” Set to Film Throughout Oregon in October

Film stars Reese Witherspoon with Jean-Marc Valée directing

A few months back it was announced that Portland based author Cheryl Strayed’s successful memoir “Wild” was being made into a feature film with Fox Searchlight producing and distributing the film.  Reese Witherspoon’s company Pacific Standard originally optioned the theatrical rights.  Acclaimed director Jean-Marc Vallée (recently directed “Dallas Buyers Club) is directing.  Now with just a few weeks to go before principal photography, it appears that the film will cover more parts of Oregon than any other project of recent memory.
