Jonathan Groff and Dale Dickey, C.O.G.

“C.O.G.”, a film adaptation of a David Sedaris work, made it’s Oregon debut last night at the Salem Cinema, Salem’s only independently owned and operated movie theater specializing in art, foreign and independent film.   There was a big turnout and a full house for the reception, featuring cider from Wandering Aengus Ciderworks and apples from Oregon Heritage Farm – a featured location for the film, wine from Namaste Vineyards and fresh apple cider from E.Z.

New iOPIF Application Available Online – Includes Post-production and Video Games

On October 7, HB 3367 becomes law.  This is significant in several ways for Oregon’s film, television, and digital media industry.  The most obvious change is the increase in the annual amount of OPIF tax credits to $10million a year. (By the way, we’re selling the remaining $4million of tax credits for 2013 beginning on October 21.  Here are the details of the tax credit auction.)

What may prove to be just as important of a development, though, are the changes happening within the “local filmmaker” program which is commonly referred to as the Indigenous Oregon Production Investment Fund (iOPIF).

Earlier in the year Lyon Films produced this spot for Quango out in Hillsboro.  I don’t know if it’s their largest spot but it’s sure to have the largest amount of destruction on any Lyon Films production.  Congrats to Devon, Kevin and the whole crew on the shoot.  Looks great!

Oregon Filmmaker’s Project 17,000 Dollars away with 10 Days to Go

“A high school graduate takes a summer job with his art teacher selling pottery at the local Renaissance Faire and ultimately discovers his passion for life.”

That’s really what we’re all looking for when we leave high school behind and venture out from the safety of the nest into the fast stream of society and that is the subject filmmaker Teo Guardino is tackling in his newest film outing “Play Faire.”  Unfortunately, his IndieGoGo campaign is winding down to its last 10 days and he’s 17,000 away from his goal.
