iOPIF to Begin Accepting New Applications May 5th

As we near July and the beginning of a new fiscal year, we are preparing to open up the application process for our “local filmmaker” program, commonly referred to as the Indigenous Oregon Production Investment Fund (iOPIF).

We will begin accepting iOPIF applications on May 5th, 2014.  Our iOPIF Advisory Committee will evaluate all applications submitted between May 5th and May 9th as having been submitted at the same time.  We are looking for projects that are fully financed and ready to be produced this year.

Cinema Pacific Festival Kicks Off In Eugene April 23rd

The fifth annual Cinema Pacific Festival starts on April 23, and the complete festival program is available online at http://cinemapacific.uoregon.edu. (A handy guide is downloadable here.)

Richard Herskowitz, Director of Cinema Pacific says, “This year I’m particularly excited about our partnership with UO Libraries on the James Blue Project,  supplementing the exciting new archive of UO alumnus James Blue’s work that is being donated to Special Collections.  Also, Cinema Pacific is working closely with the Schnitzer Museum on an array of live performances, panels, and media installations featuring Portland-based media artist Vanessa Renwick, titled Art for Endangered Species, as well as the annual new media exhibition and party, the Fringe Festival

TNT Gives Green Light for New 10 Episode Series, “The Librarians”, to Shoot in Oregon

TNT has given the green light for a 10 episode order of a new drama series, “The Librarians”, (a follow up to the movie trilogy, “The Librarian“).  Electric Entertainment produced the trilogy, and is also taking on “The Librarians”.  TNT and Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment are no strangers to Oregon, having shot all but one season of “Leverage” here.  We are thrilled to welcome them back, with the cast and crew in place and ready to start work.

We had the opportunity to work with a great client last month, Rick’s Custom Fencing and Decking hired us to produce five (Donut) spots. Three out of the five are currently running locally in Salem, Vancouver and in the Tri-Cities area in Washington. It was great working with old friends and making some new ones. Enjoy!

To help studios and producers stay on top of crew and resources and to promote Oregon’s unique production advantages, the trade group Oregon Media Production Association (OMPA) has released the 2014 SourceOregon, a directory of the professional crew, talent, vendors and support services that make up Oregon’s bustling industry. Industry parties in Portland, Eugene, and Ashland are scheduled in April to celebrate the directory’s launch.
