Strata is a fresh monthly showcase for unique, captivating and diverse stories about our cultural heritage from an archaeological perspective. Our program segments are seen for the most part only in this show, which is delivered consistently on the 15th of each month. We produce some of the segments ourselves and acquire the rest from our dozens of producer and distributor partners around the world.

Portland celebrated “Grimm’s” 100th episode on Tuesday. Thank you to Governor Kate Brown, Nick Fish, Oregon legislators and the cast and crew who all gathered on the “Grimm” stage to celebrate this occasion. And there is a lot to celebrate in addition to the show reaching it’s 100th milestone:

more than 250 million dollars has been directly spent by “Grimm” in Oregon thus far
more than a 70% job growth in the motion picture & video industry over the last five years
over 350 companies that have benefited from business with the show

Portland’s City Commissioner, Nick Fish, declared November 10th “Grimm Day” and the stage building was renamed “The Grimm Building”.

Clackamas Community College And Oregon Story Board Awarded $100,000 Microsoft Grant

Microsoft’s HoloLens Academic Grant was awarded to five educational institutions nationwide, along with two Microsoft HoloLens Development Edition devices, to each recipient, to further aid their research and development of their respective projects. Clackamas Community College and OSB will use the HoloLens technology to “develop a trade-based curriculum for Clackamas students, particularly students in the automotive program”.

“Out Of The Darkness” Wraps

Its a wrap for the locally produced feature film “Out of the Darkness.” After four weeks, and multiple locations, the producers would like to thank, the local crew and vendors, the local cast, Oscar nominated actor Graham Greene, and the Oregon Film Office. “Out of the Darkness” expected release date by Origin Releasing is in early Summer 2016. We are looking forward to our next feature production in January 2016, “Justice.”

NBC Universal’s “Grimm” is back with a vengeance with season 5. This fantasy drama series set in Portland will premiere 9pm, October 30th. To find out where season 4 left off and what to expect in this coming season read more here.

2nd Annual Indie Game Con Takes Place In Eugene

Indie Game Con took place in Eugene, Oregon earlier this month. Around 30 developers, many fans, game reps and around 19 speakers converged on Lane CC’s campus for the second annual event, that showcased the growing Pacific Northwest’s interconnected indie game development scene. Read more here.

The conference was sponsored by Lane County, Lane Travel District, Hewlett-Packard, Pipeworks, Rock You, Super Genius, The Game Engine Company, the regional accelerator, RAIN and Unity. Proceeds from the conference benefitted Bitforest.
