Call for Entries for the 43rd Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival

– The Northwest Film Center asks filmmakers based in the Northwest region to submit their recent work for consideration for the 43rd Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival (NW Fest). The Festival is the longest running Festival in the region and was named one of Moviemaker Magazine’s Top 20 Coolest Festivals in 2013.

The 43rd Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival continues the Film Center’s tradition of bringing moving image artists of the Northwest together to share ideas, discover resources available to them, inspire, be inspired and to showcase their finest work to greater audiences. Reichardt’s ‘Night Moves’ Opens In Theatres May 30th

“Night Moves” was written by Kelly Reichardt and Jon Raymond (“Mildred Pierce”, “Meek’s Cutoff”, “Wendy and Lucy”) and Executive Produced by Kim Saerom, Brett Cranford, Lourenço Sant’Anna, Alejandro De Leon, Todd Haynes, and Larry Fessenden, and starring Jesse Eisenberg  (“The Social Network”), Dakota Fanning (“The Secret Life of Bees”), and Peter Sarsgaard (“Blue Jasmine”).

Oscar-nominated filmmaker Todd Haynes donates autographed portrait to benefit The Right Brain Initiative

Nationally renowned filmmaker Todd Haynes is the subject of a one-of-a-kind portrait that posted today on eBay. This ten-day auction supports a good cause: Haynes donated the giclee print to benefit The Right Brain Initiative’s arts education programming in Portland, Oregon area schools. The print is signed by both Haynes and the portrait’s artist, Steve Cohn. Cohn is brother-in-law to Haynes, and works under the pseudonym Jasper Marks. As Television aficionados know, nominations for the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning and amongst the nominees were several Oregon based filmmakers and companies!
