(PORTLAND, OR) – The Northwest Film Center asks filmmakers based in the Northwest region to submit their recent work for consideration for the 43rd Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival (NW Fest). The Festival is the longest running Festival in the region and was named one of Moviemaker Magazine’s Top 20 Coolest Festivals in 2013.
The 43rd Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival continues the Film Center’s tradition of bringing moving image artists of the Northwest together to share ideas, discover resources available to them, inspire, be inspired and to showcase their finest work to greater audiences. In honor of one of the world’s most accomplished animators, and in recognition of a recent documentary about Oregon creative legend Bill Plympton, the city of Portland proclaims Saturday, May 26, 2012 as “Bill Plympton Day!” The day will be celebrated with screenings of “Adventures in Plymptoons” at the Bagdad Theater on SE Hawthorne in Portland at 3pm and 7pm, preceded by a Bill Plympton-themed street party at 2pm in front of the Bagdad Theater. Filmmakers Alexia Anastasio, Steve Tenhonen, Kevin Shawn Michaels and other special guests will be in attendance.

In a partnership with the Oregon Media Production Association (OMPA), McMenamins presents The Great Northwest Film Tour, giving new films a place to be shown, gather momentum and burst out onto the scene. At regular intervals, The Great Northwest Film Tour will host directors, actors and/or producers at our McMenamins hotels and theater-pubs with their latest work – could be a documentary, an action film, animation or beyond.
