Game On is the Saturday Workshop with Mark Orton
Saturday, February 18th the Northwest Film Center is hosting a workshop with local composer Mark Orton (Nebraska, Box Trolls, This American Life) called ‘Working with the Film Composer.’ Participants will get the inside scoop on logistics and process of working with a composer. Plus, Mark will help answer your burning questions about contracts, licensing, and all the fine details in between! Geared toward the director, but great for musicians too.

Oregon Art Beat Highlights Oregon Film Museum

Portland Black Film Festival February 9-22
Curated by David F. Walker and the Hollywood Theatre, the Portland Black Film Festival will showcase “diverse perspectives and stories in an art form all too often dominated by white filmmakers. This year’s festival features films which showcase the cinematic achievements of African American stars and filmmakers and examine the black experience in America.”
Hollywood Theatre Set To Open Later This Month At PDX
The new Hollywood Theatre @ PDX is getting ready to open later this month, the only airport theatre in the US! Read more from OPB.
“In partnership with the Port of Portland, the Hollywood Theatre is creating a movie theatre space in the airport’s C Concourse. The Hollywood Theatre at Portland International Airport will feature short films by Oregon filmmakers and host special events and visiting guests. Currently slated to open in early 2017, the new theater space will serve the Portland International Airport’s 16 million annual visitors, who can drop in free of charge to watch films while waiting for their flights.”

We will all be watching the 2017 Academy Awards later this month as “Kubo” garnered two nominations for, Animated Feature, and Visual Effects.
“Grimm” – Gone, But Not Forgotten. PBJ Sums Up 7 years and 6 Seasons
“Grimm” has made Portland home for 7 years, hired around 1,000 people (80 percent of the crew have been local, and about 250 full time crew), spent a little over $55 million each year, and has helped many vendors and support businesses expand in equipment and employees, as well as showcase Portland’s varied locations. The show leaves behind a honed, skilled crew, and world class vendors and services. “I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore“, Macon Blair‘s directorial debut and produced by Oregonian, Neil Kopp, were honored with Sundance‘s top award, the Grand Jury prize in the US Dramatic Competition over the week end.
Macon Blair has a history in Oregon, as he starred-in, and co-produced, also with, Neil Kopp, another #OregonMade project, “Green Room“. “I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore”, shot in Oregon last spring.
“Grimm” Gala Raises Over $800K For Doernbecher’s At Final Gala
Over the weekend, “Grimm” NBCUniversal, Comcast, and Nike brought together cast, crew and attendees for the final time, to raise money for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation. Within 3 hours, over $800,000 was raised from the gala’s auction of unique items, and props, from the show that has called Portland their home for 7 years and 6 seasons.
This means, to date the Grimmster Endowment has raised more than $1.4 million for the children and their families at Doernbecher.

Production Coordination: Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Tracks all project activity from preproduction through delivery of masters across CG, Stop-Motion and Mixed Media animation projects and Live Action shoots.
- Maintains and updates crew lists.
- Communicates scheduling information with freelance and staff artists, including specific instructions from directors and producers.
