PassinArt Theatre: Pacific Northwest Multi Cultural Readers Series & Film Festival

PassinArt Theatre is having their second biennial Pacific Northwest Multicultural Readers Series & Film Festival Thursday – Sunday, August 17-20, 2023 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Portland, Oregon.

The festival will be a jam-packed, four-day whirlwind of wall-to-wall readings, screenings, masterclasses and panel discussions addressing the issues of the day as they shape theaters of color, television, and film.

Outside the Frame Creates More Opportunities – Become a Mentor Today!

For the past 4 years, Outside The Frame has hosted and led training sessions for the Oregon Media Pathways Program, collaborative effort led by the Oregon Governors Office of Film & Video (Oregon Film) in collaboration with the Oregon Media Producers Association (OMPA), IATSE Local 488,  OTF and other stakeholders. The central goal has been to  train and place folks from underrepresented communities in paid positions as Production Assistants (PAs) on professional film sets. Since 2019, OTF has trained 60+ people through the Pathways PA Training program, resulting in 46 different people placed as paid PA interns on 32 different episodic streaming shows, motion pictures and commercials produced by Paramount, Hulu, Warner Brothers, and Amazon, just to name a few. #OregonMade “Growing Belushi” Launches Third Season April 5

The Southern Oregon shot Discovery series “Growing Belushi” launches its third season on April 5

In its first two seasons, “Growing Belushi” offered viewers a  look at actor and musician Jim Belushi’s southern Oregon cannabis farm, mixing insights into the business with banter between Belushi and his cousin Chris, and hijinks from Belushi’s “According to Jim” castmate, Larry Joe Campbell.

“Growing Belushi” Season 3 premieres at 9 p.m. April 5 on the Discovery channel.

#OregonMade “Tasting Wild” Features Central Oregon

Nat Geo recently collaborated with Mazda on, “Tasting Wild,” a new 5 part series that began streaming on Hulu, on October 25th. The #OregonMade episode features chef, Melissa King, foraging for nature’s smorgasbord of ingredients in Central Oregon – alongside National Geographic explorers and photographers as they “discover the flavors of the wild places.”

The Central Oregon Film Office was contacted by the National Geographic team and provided scouting and production services at Smith Rock and Whychus Creek.  Sandy Henderson, Executive Director and Founder, Central Film Office, said she, “worked closely with the production to ensure they had the locations they wanted, and were able to climb Smith Rock. #OregonMade, Nathan Fielder’s “The Rehearsal” Set To Premiere On HBO & HBO Max, July 15th

Nathan Fielder’s long-awaited next project, The Rehearsal, is set to premiere on HBO and HBO Max, July 15th. This six-episode show marks Fielder’s return to television. The official press release describes the new series as one that “explores the lengths one man will go to reduce the uncertainties of everyday life. With a construction crew, a legion of actors, and seemingly unlimited resources, Fielder allows ordinary people to prepare for life’s biggest moments by “rehearsing” them in carefully crafted simulations of his own design. Oregon Film: Who We Are & What We Do (Update 2022)

What has Oregon Film been up to? – After assuring our industry worked so well through the turbulent pandemic period with several projects of all sizes, 2022 started off with a slow down. Needless to say, Oregon is still attractive and a great place to bring your creative production. Recently we worked with the state legislature and partners like the OMPA and the IATSE and SAG-AFTRA unions to increase the film and media cash rebate percentages from 18% to 25%. Oregon Film Trail Adds Canby’s, Eco Park!

City of Canby officials with the newest sign on the Oregon Film Trail.

The City of Canby’s Eco Park was added to the Oregon Film Trail and commemorated with a community dedication. NBC’s “Grimm” was filmed in the city’s Eco Park in early 2014.  The public celebration was held on Friday, October 29th right in beautiful Eco Park. Canby City’s Economic Development Department assisted production crews to identify a location by providing access to the park and found parking to store trailers, equipment, and crew facilities.
