So the cat’s out of the bag – “Grimm” is committed to shoot in Oregon for it’s first season. Kristi Turnquist wrote about it today in The Oregonian. We are absolutely thrilled to know that three television series will be shot in Oregon this summer. In the coming weeks we’ll have more information on the production including a crew call.
I do want to thank everyone who worked so hard to make this happen – Gordon Sondland and the film office board, Governor Kitzhaber, the Oregon legislature, Sam Adams and the City of Portland and of course the entire film and video community. Continue reading... “Grimm Confirmed to Come to Oregon”
Recently Sean Brown a Corvallis based Director made a demo scene from a novel called “Reality Crash” by Cyd Ropp and Lou Grantt, in hopes of getting the film made into a feature.
While gathering all the needed expertise to work on the project Sean found that Corvallis had more then enough talent to make the production a great one.
Sean’s AC, Gaffer, Set Designer/Builder, Costumer, and a few other positions all came from Corvallis. Ryan E Walters as Cinematographer and Christina Kortum for make-up came from the Portland area. Continue reading... “Corvallis Oregon Great Locations, Talent, and Crews”

The videos embedded here are just two examples of testimony from local companies that have directly benefited from Oregon’s film incentive programs. These videos will be played for the Oergon State Legislature at the continuation of the initial house hearing (on HB 2167) this Friday. HB 2167 proposes increasing the annual amount allocated to the Oregon Production Investment Fund (OPIF).

I found this article in the Sunday New York Times about the upcoming IFC show “Portlandia”. The show is not only proving to be one that the media is interested in covering (it’s been in Entertainment Weekly and many local pubs) but it’s managed to stir up some interesting debate.
Recently IFC smartly put this video up on YouTube from the show. “The Dream of the 90’s is alive in Portland” on the surface seems to make fun of a lot of unique things that exist in Portland. Continue reading... ““Portlandia” Covered in the New York Times – Good For Business”
The only way you weren’t entertained by at least one Weiden + Kennedy campaign this year was if you refused to look at one screen all year. Between their “Old Spice” campaign and various “Nike” campaigns, it’s been a banner year for the Portland headquartered ad agency. Here is a link to their blog where they list all the year end accolades the agency has received so far in 2010. It’s hard to call W+K and ad agency any more after “Old Spice” campaign considering the campaign was as entertaining as most programming these days. Continue reading... “Congratulations W+K”
Turner Broadcasting announced today that D.B. Sweeney has been cast to play the lead in Electric Entertainment’s pilot set in Portland titled “Brain Trust”. Here’s the info on the pilot. Dean Devlin will be directing the pilot which is due to shoot in Portland in December for two weeks. We were thrilled to have Electric bring a second project to Oregon and even more excited to hear that they made the decision to re-write this pilot for Portland. The original script had set the pilot in Washington D.C. Continue reading... “D.B. Sweeney to star in new TV pilot set in Portland”

A few months back I was contacted by the PR executives at TNT regarding a profile that Costco was looking to do on “Leverage”. I was curious why Costco of all companies was interested in talking about Oregon Film and Video but when I found out that their Costco Connections gets sent out to over 8,000,000 people nationwide, I realized it didn’t really matter why they were interested, it was great exposure for our state and this industry.
It all started back when Lana Veenker came up with the brilliant idea of her “Thug Boot Camp” before the commencement of production for season 3 of “Leverage”. Continue reading... ““Leverage” and Oregon Film Makes it into Coscto”
