HouseSpecial took home the award for Best Picture at the We Like ‘Em Short Film Festival held on August 17-20, 2017 in Baker City, Oregon. Aaron Sorenson wrote and directed the winning stop-motion film, Jailbreak, which was shot in black and white. The story follows the daring escape of a desperate prisoner fleeing his nightmarish cell in pursuit of sweet punishment. The design is German Expressionist-inspired, but with a decidedly adult twist.

The stories and voices of real people are the building blocks of documentary storytelling. The challenge for the filmmaker is to adapt their style to the person being interviewed. My name is Steve West and I am new to “The Confluence” but not new to making film in Oregon. I am located in La Grande and for the last fourteen years we have produced episodic adventure based outdoor television for The Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, and other networks. However in the last two years we have started a more well rounded media house with documentary projects, commercials, and producing television for other people and companies.
The Northwest Film Center’s July Arri Alexa Camera Operation workshop is Saturday, July 29th from 10am to 3pm.

24 Hour Comic wowed an audience of fans and VIPs at Portland’s Laurelhurst Theater last night with its “Portland Premier” screening. 24 Hour Comic releases on iTunes and VOD on July 11th, and goes to Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival later this month. All this exposure means great things for Oregon filmmaker Milan Erceg.
The Oregon, independent game developer, Fullbright, has announced that their latest console game, “Tacoma”, has been released on Linux, Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Xbox One, and will be released August 2. This latest game comes as a follow up to their popular, and multi- award-winning game, “Gone Home“ (set in 1990’s Oregon) that became an indie hit.
“Tacoma” takes place in 2088 and is set on a space station of the same name.
We were recently approached by, Theo Friedman, a University of Oregon business alumnus, with an idea to create a report for the rookie filmmaker that would look at providing some answers to how projects get made.
