Ashland local, Sean Nipper, has won the Samsung NX1 Sweepstakes. Sean got his start in theatre and educational films in Ashland, southern Oregon. He then moved to the bay area, and opened a small production company. Nipper recently returned to southern Oregon to raise his family, where he now runs his new company, Reel House Films.

Hinge teamed up again with PM Publicidad in Atlanta to create this broadcast spot showcasing six very different consumer households in one seamless camera move for Cox Communications. The deceptively simple looking spot was the product of meticulous orchestration between the live action and CG worlds.

VFX Breakdown:
The project workflow began with the previs team: They roughed out the six virtual sets and developed a loopable camera move to program the Milo motion control rig. At the shoot, a RED EPIC was mounted to the Milo arm, and captured each household’s performance on the green screen sweep, as the Milo moved down the tracks. TNT’s new drama series, “The Librarians”, (a follow up to the movie trilogy, “The Librarian”) delivered 5.4 million viewers for the two hour premiere in December. TNT and Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment are no strangers to Oregon, having shot all but one season of “Leverage” here. Many locations in the Portland metro area, Clackamas county and even the Captiol building in Salem were used in season one.
POWFest will host POWGirls in 2015, a unique partnership program with MetroEast Community Media, specifically designed for girls ages 15-18. Over the course of four days in January, a group of selected girls will develop, produce, edit and present a film during the Youth Shorts program at the POWFest March 12-15, 2015.

Bill Pullman (“Independence Day”, “While You Were Sleeping”) and Rita Wilson (“Jingle All The Way”, “Runaway Bride”) are currently starring in “Brother In Laws” (working title) shooting in and around Klamath Falls this month and next. Downtown Klamath Falls, a rural cabin, and Lake of Woods are some of a number of locations being used. Line Producer, Jenny Hinkey, told NBC 2 News, that she expects at least $700,000 will be spent in the local economy. Hinkey said, “In a very brief amount of time we can have a have a great impact on an area, and it’s a lot of fun for the community”. Chuck Peters, a small town filmmaker and LEGO stop-motion animator has launched his Kickstarter campaign for his latest project Hak and Gnasher. The campaign’s aim is to raise $1350.00 for acquiring the necessary LEGO bricks, animation software, and a DSLR camera to allow him to produce his web series Hak and Gnasher in house. The campaign is over half over, with only 25 days left, and he has raised 67% of the goal so far.
When Perry sent me an email letting me know that he had purchased a jet airliner mock up I knew I had to go check it out. While one or two options for filming in an airliner exist, none present an option that is logistically straight forward and simple. Shooting inside a real plane is of course the most realistic but the process is complex. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (Ashland, southern Oregon) is well known for it’s high caliber theatre performances. Lesser know is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Costume Rentals. OSFCR is a full-service costume rental facility that features around 100,000 costumer pieces designed and made in-house. OSFCR has been renting costumes since 2004 but only started renting to the film and TV market for the past 6 years. They have been successful, with many repeat customers, from primetime shows on NBC, ABC, HBO, TNT, as well as many feature films.
