EASTERN OREGON FILM FESTIVAL • EIGHT YEARS STRONG

La Grande, Ore. – Eastern Oregon Film Festival will present its eighth annual edition October 19-21 in La Grande, Oregon. Fifteen feature films, nearly fifty short films, and multiple special events will be presented throughout the three-day event. Recently hailed as one of the “Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World”, festival-goers will enjoy an intimate and ‘down-home’ style of events and after-parties.

The black listed comedy script, “Crash Pad” is the directorial debut for Kevin Tent, the oscar-nominated editor for ‘The Descendants” and “Nebraska”. Executive Produced by Alexander Payne, produced by Bill Horberg (“Milk”, “Cold Mountain”) and stars Domhnall Gleeson, Thomas Haden Church, Christina Applegate and Nina Dobrev. “Crash Pad” will be available on VOD this Tuesday, 9/26 and a limited theater release on 10/27.

Ashland Independent Film Festival Expands the 28th Annual Varsity World Film Week

Varsity World Film WeekThe Ashland Independent Film Festival has assembled an intriguing and illuminating array of international independent films for the 28th annual Varsity World Film Week running October 6 through October 13 at the Varsity Theatre in downtown Ashland. The 13 films selected represent 23 countries, including Canada, Colombia, Lebanon, France, Thailand, Russia, Nepal, and the United States.

QDoc Film Festival Returns May 18-21 at the Hollywood Theatre! 4 Days, 12 Films, 1 Special Weekend

Going on its 11th year, QDoc is the only film festival in the United States (and one of only two in the world) devoted exclusively to LGBTQ documentaries. From historical films to personal stories; artist biographies to experimental works; topical films to controversial works, QDoc has presented award-winning films, fresh from top-tier festivals, for more than a decade.

The four-day festival kicks of Thursday, May 18 at the historic Hollywood Theatre and continues through May 21 with 11 additional films, broadly exploring LGBTQ history, culture and politics. Productions Give Back with Film Shadow Program

As we bid farewell to “Grimm” and welcome both “The Librarians” and “Portlandia” back for their next seasons this coming Spring and Summer – we wanted to share a very special program we were able to put together last summer with the help of the producers of these shows, Open Signal, the City of Portland and NBC/Universal.

Besetment”, an indie-produced feature film from Barbed Wire Films, will have it’s first public premiere on Sunday October 30th at the Volcanic Theater Pub in Bend, OR at 6pm.

Filmed in Mitchell, Prineville, Ashland, and Bend, OR, the film tells the tale of Amanda Millard, a down-on-her-luck girl, desperate to find a job.  When she gets a call from the Oregon Hotel in Mitchell, things start to look up. Mildred Colvin, the owner of the Oregon Hotel is a kind lady, and her live-in son and local mechanic Billy, though a little slow, seems quite taken with Amanda. Eastern Oregon Film Festival will be celebrating its seventh year of independent film and music programming in La Grande, Oregon on October 20-22, 2016. EOFF will be hosting more visiting filmmakers than in previous years, and in all screening more than 30 independent works. In collaboration with PDXART, and many other partners (please see list below) a new exhibit is up on Concourse E, at the Portland International Airport this week.  The exhibit showcases “vignettes” of artifacts, props and images from just a few of the 400+ feature films & television shows that have utilized Oregon as their production backdrop over the years.  From the early silent era films like “Fisherman’s Bride” (shot in Astoria, 1908), to “Grimm”, the popular NBC television series currently shooting in Portland, Oregon has played an important role in production.
