Filmmaker Ian Clark takes MMXIII on an Online Tour

After making his way through another successful Eastern Oregon Film Festival, filmmaker and Eastern Oregon native Ian Clark is taking his most recent project “MMXIII” on a theatrical tour……. online.  Ian has made arrangements for several different websites to host his project on their site over the next month.  The “tour” actually started last week on the Eastern Oregon Film Festival website and now is on Filmmaker Magazine’s website.  Ian also agreed to let us keep the project up on Oregon Confluence beginning on March 8.

Instrument Gives Back – Hosts Digital Creative Workshop With iUrban Teen

tw5a9892-wide  Portland based digital creative agency Instrument recently teamed with iUrban Teen to host a digital creative workshop for teens in the Portland community.  From all accounts it was a great day for all parties.  The teen participants were exposed to exciting new technologies received some insight into future career opportunities right in their backyard.  For Instrument, the afternoon creative brainstorm session brought ideas that the creative team at Instrument admittedly would have never thought of.

King Black Acid :: I’m Rolling Under

Long time Portland rocker, Daniel Riddle, of King Black Acid (KBA), has once again collaborated with emerging video production company, Revolver Digital Media Studio, LLC (DMS). “I’m Rolling Under,” the latest music video release, is their most visually compelling piece of art in their portfolio. KBA has long been known amongst fans for its space odyssey style sound and emotionally impactful lyrics. This has been the group’s longest collaboration to date, spanning upward five plus years in the production cycle; the result is a visual masterpiece.

Welcome To PixAir!

When Perry sent me an email letting me know that he had purchased a jet airliner mock up I knew I had to go check it out.  While one or two options for filming in an airliner exist, none present an option that is logistically straight forward and simple.  Shooting inside a real plane is of course the most realistic but the process is complex.  Everything, including all crew and equipment, must pass through security and the crew is matched up with TSA agents inside and outside on the tarmac.

“The Wilderness of James” to World Premiere at SXSW

The Wilderness of James

The iOPIF feature, “The Wilderness of James“, that shot in Portland in 2012, is to have it’s world premiere at SXSW this year.  Michael Johnson (formerly from Kamp Grizzly), wrote and directed the feature,  it stars Kodi Smit-McPhee (“The Road”, voice of Norman Babcock in “ParaNorman”), Virginia Madsen (“Sideways”), Isabelle Fuhrman (“Orphan”), Evan Ross (“Jeff Who Lives At home”), and Danny Devito (“One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest”).
Johnson grew up in Portland and graduated from the University of Oregon before moving to Los Angeles to start his career.

THE WINDING STREAM to have World Premiere at the 2014 SXSW Festival

Web_HeaderIndie filmmaker Beth Harrington is pleased to announce that her latest music documentary film, The Winding Stream – The Carters, The Cashes and the Course of Country Music, will have its world premiere at the prestigious 2014 South X Southwest Film and Music Festival in Austin, Texas.

The film tells the story of the American roots music dynasty at the heart of Americana music – The Original Carter Family.

The Carters didn’t just play the music of their Virginia hill country upbringing.

Potrtland International Film Festival Kicks Off February 6

The 37th Portland International Film Festival kicks off on February 6 with a host of great films from around the world, a special “Oregon Shorts” night featuring the newest project from acclaimed director Irene Taylor Brodsky, and great new venues including OMSI’s new Empirical Theater.

The Oregon Filmmaker Showcase will feature pieces from Vanessa Renwick, Joanna Priestley, Kimberly Warner, Sal Strom, Rachelle Sarfati, Pam Minty, Stephanie Hough, and of course Irene Taylor Brodsky.  The program is on February 11 at the Whitsell Auditorium.

“Portlandia” Returns With Season 4

IFC’s Portlandia is back (February 27th) with their eagerly awaited Season 4.  As in seasons past, part of the fun of Portlandia is seeing who shows up as guest stars, and Season 4 will not disappoint.  Stars such as, Kirsten Dunst (Spider Man), Vanessa Bayer (Saturday Night Live) the intriguing, Joshua Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), amongst others, even Paul Allen and some Trailbalzers make an appearance as well as “the official vehicle of the Pacific Northwest, the Subaru!

Moviemaker Magazine Awards Two Oregon Cities With Honors For “Best Places to Live and Work as a Moviemaker 2014”!

In years gone by, Moviemaker Magazine lumped together big city and small town to compete for the sought after title of, “Best Places To Live and Work as a Moviemaker”.  This year, the magazine has split their list into three components:

  • Top Big Cities (they define as more than 50,000 residents)
  • Top Small Cities (100,000)
  • Top Towns (under 100,000)

We are excited to see that two Oregon cities took honors in the Big City and Town categories – Portland and Ashland!
