Have a good one!   -Katlyn Prentice

You can learn quite a bit by the clothes you wear.  Walking around my campus in Boston, sporting my new Portlandia sweatshirt, I learned a lot about the impact that Oregon filmmaking has on rest of the country.

Film/TV Production Industry Celebrates Legislative Success Friday

Oregon’s film and television production Industry prepares for expansion thanks to 67% increase in funds designed to recruit projects to Oregon – but first, a party with performance from Oregon blues legend Curtis Salgado.

With the passing of HB 3367 and on to the Governor’s Desk for signature, the Oregon Production Investment Fund now has a little breathing room to consider new projects.  The expansion of OPIF (extra $4million a year) will not go into effect until early October but in the meantime the fund does have approximately $700,000 available for new projects.  We have received three applications already and are reviewing those applications but we would like to open up the application process for the next week and consider all applications submitted between July 1 and July 19 at the same time.

Oregon Legislature Round-Up – Transformational for Oregon’s Film, TV, and Digital Media Industry

On Monday July 8, the 2013 Oregon Legislative session wrapped up, and it has proven to be a landmark legislative session.  On Monday morning the House concurred with the amendments the Senate passed for HB 3367 over the weekend resulting in an increase annual allocation for the Oregon Production Investment Fund tax credit.  The allocation in OPIF will go from $6million a year to $10million a year.  Other important legislation that will positively affect Oregon’s film, television, and digital media industry includes HB 5028 which allows the Oregon Innovation Council to fund the Oregon Story Board, and SB 836 which exempts film, tv and theartical hair, and make-up professionals from certain cosmetology regulations.
