Now that’s the way to run a Kickstarter Campaign – XOXO Festival Gets Funded

In a matter of a few short days Andy Baio(of waxy.org) has his XOXO Festival Funded.  Unfortunately that means that if you did not already contribute you won’t be able to get a ticket to the event which is scheduled for September 13-16.  Have no fear though, there will still be opportunities to experience the event as the “Market” portion of the festival will be open to the public September 15-16.  What is so exciting about the festival is that it is yet another example of multiple worlds of creativity and tech coming together for a conversation about what is happening and what is next.  Continue reading... “Now that’s the way to run a Kickstarter Campaign – XOXO Festival Gets Funded”

2 New Information Sessions Planned for Tax Credit Auction in Portland and Ashland

As the Oregon Production Investment Fund Residential Tax Credit Auction approaches(click for more details), two information sessions have been planned for Portland -on June 8- and Ashland – on June 18.  Below are the specifics.

Congrats to James Winters on a Fantastic Tribute to Beastie Boys/MCA

“Grimm” Honored with Environmental Award

Shannon Schaefer Bart (Sustainable Production Manager NBC Universal) and Steve Oster (Producer, "Grimm") with the Green Award

NBC Universal’s series, “Grimm” was honored for it’s environmentally friendly production practices at the 33rd Annual Travel Portland Tourism and Hospitality Industry Awards last week.  This award recognizes environmentally friendly business practices that “help sustain Oregon’s exceptional quality of life”.

Two Oregon Media Tech Companies Attract New Investment and Promise For New Employment @Ensequence, @Elementaltech

This week two companies with a large and growing presence in Oregon announced siginificant new funding. Elemental Technologies, the leading supplier of video solutions for multiscreen content delivery, announced that it raised $13 million in Series C financing led by Norwest Venture Partners (NVP) this week. Elemental was the recipient of last year’s Innovation in Media Arts award.  2012 is proving to be a pivotal year for Elemental thanks in part to the Summer Olympics.  At the Olympics this year Elemental will be powering multiscreen video in 30+ countries which shows how far of a reach the company has made in a short period of time. The Winding Stream – Last Big Push!

The Winding Stream, an epic documentary film about the dynasty at the heart of American roots music is nearing completion, but needs finishing funds to get there. The film tells the story of the musical Carter and Cash Family and features interviews and performances by many Americana artists, including Johnny Cash, Rosanne Cash, George Jones, Sheryl Crow, Kris Kristofferson, John Prine, the Carolina Chocolate Drops and others.

Mayor Sam Adams: “The City of Portland is Politely Asking You to Put an Emmy on It”

Portland Mayor, Sam Adams, is rallying behind Portlandia for Emmy consideration in twelve categories, including Outstanding Variety Series.  Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisens’ hit sketch comedy series has already completed two seasons in Portland and is coming back for a third this year.  The show won an Emmy in 2011 for Outstanding Costumes For A Variety/Music Program.

Matt McCormick’s “The Great Northwest” to Screen at Northwest Film Center

After great screenings at the Rotterdam International Film Festival and the Museum of Modern Art, Matt McCormick’s documentary film “The Great Northwest” is being screened right here in the real life Great Northwest.

The film will screen on May 2-3 in Portland at the Northwest Film Center.

The Great Northwest is an experimental documentary based on the re-creation of a 3,200 mile road-trip made in 1958 by four Seattle women who thoroughly documented their journey in an elaborate scrapbook of photos, postcards, and brochures.   Continue reading... “Matt McCormick’s “The Great Northwest” to Screen at Northwest Film Center”
