With 2014 coming quickly, we thought it would be a good idea to send out an update on the Oregon Production Investment Fund (OPIF) and the Indigenous Oregon Production Investment Fund (iOPIF).
In October we completed our second tax credit auction and successfully sold out the remaining tax credits from the new $10million annual allotment. The total amount of funds raised for fiscal year 2013-2014 is $9,870,610 which is the highest return on the tax credit sale to date. December 6, 2013 – Portland, Oregon – Oregon Story Board, launched earlier this year by a consortium of research, private, and state groups, today welcomes its inaugural Executive Director Nicholas de Wolff, after a comprehensive national search. Nicholas will be responsible for developing and overseeing the organization’s strategic and operational mission.

Of the five major broadcast television networks’ 23 new one-hour dramas offered up last year, only two were filmed in Hollywood. State tax incentives from outside California have successfully lured many productions to other economies, and created a growing market for a variety of property owners in Oregon as location providers. Indicating the extent to which films are made outside the confines of studio lots in America, about five years ago- when California still commanded the lion’s share of the film location market -Los Angeles County issued permits for over 30,000 film location days, with about 75% of Southern California’s location filming shooting in private residences.
