Gorge Impact Film Festival Call to Filmmakers

The Gorge Impact Film Festival (GIFF) announces its inaugural event, Saturday, November 4, 2023 at The Ruins in Hood River, Oregon. The festival will explore one of the most crucial questions of our time: “How does humanity go forward with joy, hope, and optimism on a changed planet?”

Climate change, species decline, and habitat destruction have transformed our world. But with the planet and humanity here to stay. GIFF seeks to inspire conversations about our future in this evolving environment.

GIFF is seeking film submissions from around the globe that explore the theme through various lenses, including art, design and architecture, nature, indigenous ways of thinking, technology, food, water and energy systems, philosophy, and even humor.

Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation Camp; Technology August Festival to Be Held at OMSI

Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation, and Technology (PFCAT) announced its 2023 schedule. The event will be taking place at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) from August 3rd – 6th and will include screenings of 119 films including 110 World or Regional Premieres from 22 countries, as well as panel discussions, parties, and presentations.

“Tell Your Story” Grant Winners Announed

The winners of this year’s “Tell Your Story” grants are Karina Lomelin Ripper and Luann Algoso & Christian Henry. These filmmakers will receive a non-project-specific grant of $15,000 and at least six months of direct support from the Oregon Film Office as well as shared office space at Desert Island Studios. The grant was designed to support a non-project-specific, virtual residency, allowing filmmakers to develop, explore, and shoot the stories they want to tell in any film format they choose. We’re the state film office. Or, the State Film Commission. Or, Oregon Film as some call it. And, as such, we are tasked with growing the film, television, commercial, interactive, and media industry here in Oregon. We bring attention to, elevate, and support the industry in many different ways.

Project support. We think that Customer Service means a great deal. Therefore, we make sure we are responsive, it doesn’t matter if a project is big or small, from out-of-state, or coming from one of our local producers or companies. Top Secret Club – Writer’s Network – Launches Feb 27, 2023

Join us for the official launch of Top Secret Club 2023! An evening for us to gather, workshop new projects, network, and celebrate our writing, acting, filmmaking, and theater communities.  Monday 2/27 @portlandcenterstage at the armory in the Ellen Bye Studio. Free to attend! Doors at 6:30!

#OregonMade “Earthlings” Premieres At Goteborg International Film Festival

After over two excruciatingly long years, the Oregon-made film Earthlings from Portland filmmaker Steven Doughton and producer Jacqueline Gault will get its World Premiere as the only US film in the 2023 International Competition at the 2023 Goteborg International Film Festival on February 2nd in Goteborg, Sweden.

“We completed the film just prior to the pandemic, and were crushed when festivals went online for nearly two years. We wanted the big festival premiere experience, so we held the film back and waited patiently,” notes Gault. Scriptwriting Focused “Top Secret Club” Calls for Submissions

Calling all mid-level to advanced screenwriters and playwrights to submit projects in late stage development to Open Call for Top Secret Club 2023!

Top Secret Club is a bimonthly script development and networking event for the film and theatre community that will host table reads in front of a live audience with local actors, screenwriters, and playwrights. The table reads will be followed by a facilitated feedback session, and a community social hour.

Over the course of 2023 there will be 6 Top Secret Club events.
