NBC Universal’s “Grimm” begins season 5 just in time for Halloween, and will premiere October 30 (Fridays 9/8c). The first episode, “The Grimm Identity” promises that “vengeance rises from the ashes”, and this season will contain the 100th episode that Silas Weir Mitchell (Monroe) suggests will finally explain the ramifications of the  “keys and coins”.  Stay tuned!

TNT’s “The Librarians” will be rolling out their season 2 premiere November 1 (8/7c).  “Returning to the universe of TNT’s hit movie franchise, The Librarian, this new series centers on an ancient organization hidden beneath the Metropolitan Public Library dedicated to protecting an unknowing world from the secret, magical reality hidden all around. The fifth annual Cinema Pacific Festival starts on April 23, and the complete festival program is available online at http://cinemapacific.uoregon.edu. (A handy guide is downloadable here.)

To help studios and producers stay on top of crew and resources and to promote Oregon’s unique production advantages, the trade group Oregon Media Production Association (OMPA) has released the 2014 SourceOregon, a directory of the professional crew, talent, vendors and support services that make up Oregon’s bustling industry. Industry parties in Portland, Eugene, and Ashland are scheduled in April to celebrate the directory’s launch. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (Ashland, southern Oregon) is well known for it’s high caliber theatre performances.  Lesser know is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Costume Rentals.  OSFCR is a full-service costume rental facility that features around 100,000 costumer pieces designed and made in-house.  OSFCR has been renting costumes since 2004 but only started renting to the film and TV market for the past 6 years.  They have been successful, with many repeat customers, from primetime shows on NBC, ABC, HBO, TNT, as well as many feature films.  Continue reading... “OSF Costume Inventory: a Great Asset for Film & TV Projects Everywhere”

The Oregon Film & Television Office thanked Leverage for four great seasons shooting in the Portland Metro area by donating four trees to be planted in metro neighborhoods through the  Friends Of Trees non-profit program.  Leverage’s Producer, Dean Devlin,  was presented with a certificate noting the dates and neighborhoods the trees will be planted by Senator Ginny Burdick (and, naturally, the certificate was printed on 100% recycled, FSC certified paper).  Continue reading... “Oregon Film Office Says Thanks To “Leverage” For Four Great Seasons Shooting In Portland By Donating Neighborhood Trees”

UPDATED AGAIN – It was just announced that after five great seasons (four in Oregon) “Leverage” is coming to an end on Christmas night.  We’ve been so blessed to have four great seasons in Oregon and we look forward to future TNT and Electric Entertainment productions in the future.  For now though, we’ll look to enjoy the series finale on Christmas night.

Are you ready for a weekend full of Oregon produced Television?  Starting tonight on IFC “Portlandia” airs episode 2 of its second season.  Tonight’s episode includes guest stars Jeff Goldblum, Edward James Olmos, Eddie Vedder, and even an Eddie Vedder tatoo.  I had the chance to see the episode early and I have to say that the Portland Allergy Pride Parade is hilarious!  Season 2 got off to a great start last week and the ratings were greatly improved from Season 1. Filmmakers begin to move film and television production up to the Pacific Northwest.

Portland, Ore. – Portland, Oregon is rapidly becoming the next production capital of the west thanks to the hit television show Portlandia, which debuted on the Independent Film Channel last January.

The wildly popular show, set to debut its second season in January 2012, stars comedians Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein. Armisen, best known as a returning cast member of Saturday Night Live and Brownstein, a former band member of Portland-based Sleater Kinney, first grabbed viewers attention when the six-episode series aired earlier this year.
