Buffalo Soldiers: Fighting On Two Fronts will be Broadcast Nationally on PBS in June

Buffalo Soldiers: Fighting On Two Fronts will be broadcast nationally on PBS June 12th at 10pm ET and as part of a Juneteenth special for WORLD Channel’s series ‘Local, USA’ on June 19th at 8pm ET.

The iconic Buffalo Soldiers fought on two very different sets of front lines: military conflicts abroad and civil rights struggles at home. Though the 14th Amendment promised citizenship in exchange for enlistment, Black men were denied this right due to Jim Crow laws. The award-winning documentary, Buffalo Soldiers: Fighting on Two Fronts, explores the profound and often contradictory roles played by Black soldiers in the United States military.

Paramount + Announce Start Of Production In Portland On “Little Wing”

Paramount+ today announced the start of production and cast for the service’s latest original coming-of-age film, “Little Wing”, from Awesomeness and inspired by the New Yorker article of the same name by Susan Orlean. The film starts production this month in Portland. Brian Cox (“Succession”), Kelly Reilly (“Here,” “A Haunting in Venice”), Brooklynn Prince (“Cocaine Bear,” “The Florida Project”) and Che Tafari (“Me Time”) star.

OregonMade Creative Foundation Nominated For Community Impact Award, Inaugural Global Production Awards

We are excited to confirm that Oregon Film’s non-profit, the OregonMade Creative Foundation has been nominated by Screen International and the Global Production Awards for a Community Impact Award. Screen International unveiled the shortlist for the inaugural Awards which celebrates outstanding and sustainable work in the world of film and TV production, locations, studios, and film offices.

The awards recognize organizations and companies working in the film and TV industry including studios, production companies, film commissions, locations, suppliers and manufacturers, and any services involved in film and TV production.

Filmmaker Mixer – Free Event

Join the POV Filmmakers for our monthly in person mixer.

The April mixer will feature a presentation from Bradley Aaron, Screenwriter, on How To Format A Screenplay (approximately 20 minutes), followed by a fun trivia game, then plenty of time to network with other filmmakers. Open to all, this event is free to attend no matter where you are in your filmmaking journey. We meet every Third Thursday.

Top Secret Club Script Workshop Returns on April 29

The next Top Secret Club script reading event is coming up Saturday April 29th at 2 PM featuring the work of playwright/actor/director Francisco Garcia and actor/writer/producer Julia Morizawa.

Eastern Oregon Filmmaker Residency Program Announces 2023 Cohort

Eastern Oregon Film Festival is excited to announce the cohort for the 2023 Eastern Oregon Filmmaker Residency Program, taking place from April 30-May 26 in La Grande.

The selected attendees will be hosted at The Lodge at Hot Lake Springs and will engage with the community, Eastern Oregon University Students and Faculty, local businesses, and more as they focus on writing screenplays that are informed and enriched by their time in the Grande Ronde Valley.

This residency is supported by the recently formed Creative Opportunity Fund.
