EOFF2013: Poised for the new year!

Eastern Oregon Film Festival is coming together. Strong. Friends of the festival are stepping up and becoming members. Businesses, organizations, and industry professionals are helping to create a sustainable ‘force-to-be-reckoned-with’ in beautiful La Grande, Oregon.

Last Year

We felt warm embraces by local and regional audiences, were humbled with the presence of more guest artists than ever, and saw a 30% increase in attendance. EOFF was one of the first festivals to utilize Skype technology for its Q/As. This past edition we held conversations with emerging artists Evan GlodellTristan PattersonSophia Takal, and Dustin Guy Defa. Continue reading... “EOFF2013: Poised for the new year!”

Green Happenings – Walking The Green Talk

Last week I attended the Go Green Portland conference with such speakers as Cylvia Hayes, the founder and CEO of 3EStrategies, (a clean economy consulting firm) and partner of Gov. John Kitzhaber; Duncan Wyse, president of the Oregon Business Council; Carol Sanford, author of “The Responsible Business” and Nick Barham of Weiden and Kennedy.   It seemed that they had a common theme; many valuable and interesting businesses are blossoming here in the Pacific Northwest and much useful work is underway but there is much yet be done.  Continue reading... “Green Happenings – Walking The Green Talk”

James Westby [Film Geek (2006), The Auteur(2008), Rid of Me (2011)] is an independent filmmaker in Portland, Oregon. He waxes nostalgic about his video store experiences—as both customer and employee—which set the stage for his latest project.

The Great American Video Store

As a filmmaker, I am increasingly excited for the vast audience the web and on demand services can bring to an independent movie—mine or anyone else’s—with a reach far larger than was ever thought possible.

ParaNorman Impresses at Comic-Con 2012!

The annual Comic-Con convention took place in San Diego, CA this past weekend, and LAIKA/Focus Features’ ParaNorman was there in full force.  In addition to Norman and the larger-than-life-sized Zombies (seen above) roaming the halls of the convention, there was also a ParaNorman ice cream truck and plenty of free ParaNorman swag being handed out.   Attendees were also treated to a live ParaNorman panel in Hall H (appropriately held on Friday the 13th) that offered a sneak peek of the film, behind-the-scenes footage, and a better idea of what to expect when the film premieres August 17th, 2012.   Continue reading... “ParaNorman Impresses at Comic-Con 2012!”
