Eastern Oregon Film Festival is coming together. Strong. Friends of the festival are stepping up and becoming members. Businesses, organizations, and industry professionals are helping to create a sustainable ‘force-to-be-reckoned-with’ in beautiful La Grande, Oregon.

We felt warm embraces by local and regional audiences, were humbled with the presence of more guest artists than ever, and saw a 30% increase in attendance. EOFF was one of the first festivals to utilize Skype technology for its Q/As. Last week I attended the Go Green Portland conference with such speakers as Cylvia Hayes, the founder and CEO of 3EStrategies, (a clean economy consulting firm) and partner of Gov. John Kitzhaber; Duncan Wyse, president of the Oregon Business Council; Carol Sanford, author of “The Responsible Business” and Nick Barham of Weiden and Kennedy. Come to the OMPA Classic Golf, Wine or Bike Tour this Friday

If you only get to one event for Oregon’s film and television industry this year, you should make it out to Indian Creek Golf Course in Hood River for the OMPA Classic this Friday. The event benefits the Oregon Media Production Association, an institution of Oregon’s crew, vendors, producers and actors that for 30-years has advocated for growth in Oregon’s production industry.

ParaNorman Impresses at Comic-Con 2012!

The annual Comic-Con convention took place in San Diego, CA this past weekend, and LAIKA/Focus Features’ ParaNorman was there in full force. In addition to Norman and the larger-than-life-sized Zombies (seen above) roaming the halls of the convention, there was also a ParaNorman ice cream truck and plenty of free ParaNorman swag being handed out. Attendees were also treated to a live ParaNorman panel in Hall H (appropriately held on Friday the 13th) that offered a sneak peek of the film, behind-the-scenes footage, and a better idea of what to expect when the film premieres August 17th, 2012. Portland, OR – May 29, 2012 – Sold out screenings on May 20th made Cell Count the most attended film at the Fantaspoa Fantastic Film Festival in Porto Alegre Brazil.

Writer / Director Todd E. Freeman was at the festival for 10 days and said, “this experience changed my outlook on the worldwide filmmaking community as well as the excitement about Cell Count in International markets.” He went on to say, “Porto Alegre and the Fantaspoa Film Festival welcomed me and our movie with open and excited arms. The Winding Stream – Last Big Push!

The Winding Stream, an epic documentary film about the dynasty at the heart of American roots music is nearing completion, but needs finishing funds to get there. The film tells the story of the musical Carter and Cash Family and features interviews and performances by many Americana artists, including Johnny Cash, Rosanne Cash, George Jones, Sheryl Crow, Kris Kristofferson, John Prine, the Carolina Chocolate Drops and others.

Going Green Set 1 — Wheel Of Fortune set in Portland

This year marks the fifth season that Wheel of Fortune has featured a “Going Green” theme week. In past seasons, Pat and Vanna have offered viewers tips for going green and have shared updates about what Sony Pictures is doing to keep the studio lot environmentally-friendly. As well as the kick off Going Green Week, the show is also featuring, Portland Week, College Week and the Great Outdoors. See the schedule for air dates on KATU below:
