If Trever Stewart runs into a room and says to you, “Quick, play dead.” You might just unthinkingly throw yourself on the ground and imagine that there are big, black Xs covering your eye sockets.

He’s that persuasive.

And, since moving to Portland from Los Angeles, Mr. Stewart (Associate Producer of Special Projects, Bent Image Labs) has learned to use his impressive powers for good, specifically, for the good of local animation.

All Three Oregon Produced Shows Airing New Episdoes this Weekend!

Are you ready for a weekend full of Oregon produced Television?  Starting tonight on IFC “Portlandia” airs episode 2 of its second season.  Tonight’s episode includes guest stars Jeff Goldblum, Edward James Olmos, Eddie Vedder, and even an Eddie Vedder tatoo.  I had the chance to see the episode early and I have to say that the Portland Allergy Pride Parade is hilarious!  Season 2 got off to a great start last week and the ratings were greatly improved from Season 1. Hollywood Trades in the City of Stars for the City of Roses

Filmmakers begin to move film and television production up to the Pacific Northwest.

Portland, Ore. – Portland, Oregon is rapidly becoming the next production capital of the west thanks to the hit television show Portlandia, which debuted on the Independent Film Channel last January.

The wildly popular show, set to debut its second season in January 2012, stars comedians Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein. Armisen, best known as a returning cast member of Saturday Night Live and Brownstein, a former band member of Portland-based Sleater Kinney, first grabbed viewers attention when the six-episode series aired earlier this year. Recorded Webcast of Annual Meeting Available

Governor Kitzhaber Presents Green Leadership Award to PlyVeneer Products for Development of Sustainable Set Construction Material, “ScenicPly”

Governor Kitzhaber presented the Oregon Governor’s Award for Green Leadership to PlyVeneer Products, (for the development of ScenicPly in collaboration with EcoScenic) on Monday night at the Film Office’s public Annual Meeting in Portland.  Reading the details of the award was First Lady of Oregon, Cylvia Hayes.  (Cylvia  is also founder of 3E Strategies, a consulting firm and green product development company.) “Gone” Trailer Available – Starring Amanda Seyfried – Shot in Oregon

It doesn’t take long to notice in the trailer that “Gone” was shot in Oregon (lot’s of Portland Police cars).  The film was shot here last spring right after the production of the pilot for “Grimm”.  From everything we heard, the production went very smoothly.  If you’re familiar with Portland at all you’ll notice some familiar locations.  Several scenes were shot in the industrial part of inner SE Portland just a few blocks from our office.  The film also used the exterior of the empty U.S. Continue reading... ““Gone” Trailer Available – Starring Amanda Seyfried – Shot in Oregon”

Success of Oregon’s Film and TV industry highlighted in Hollywood Reporter

Recently the media that covers the film and television industry has taken notice in all the work happening in the state.  In the web based trade “The Wrap”, a recent article about the state of the TV industry mentioned Portland as a city on the rise for TV production. Jalal Jemison joins Bent Image Lab as Head of Compositing/Lead Colorist

Bent Image Lab recently cemented Visual FX Artist Jalal Jemison as its new head of compositing and lead colorist. Jemison whose previous work includes numerous Hollywood projects such as Pineapple Express, Borat and most currently Get Him to the Greek and the documentary How to Die in Oregon brings his mastery of post production tools and techniques to the world of commercials, television programs, music videos and motion graphics.

LAIKA Creates Trailer For New Colin Meloy Book

“How five crows managed to lift a 20-pound baby boy into the air was beyond Prue, but that was certainly the least of her worries.”

As if being the lead singer of one of the most highly-thought of bands around wasn’t enough, Colin Meloy – front man for the Decembrists – has added author extraordinaire to his list of titles. His children’s book Wildwood, the first in a series, is set to hit stores August 30th.
