It’s been a busy summer for us interns at Oregon Film compared to what most people our age are doing right now: swimming, camping, and vacationing in general. As much as we’d like to take time off and just relax or sleep the summer away, we’ve been filming videos all summer long, working hard to show the people of Oregon, and the legislature, how the film industry has quietly and stealthily been successful both in-front of and behind the cameras. With Premiere of Season 5 of “Leverage” Stealing the Spruce Goose, Evergreen Aviation Museum Gets Nice Exposure

This past Wednesday I was kindly invited to attend a private sneak peak of the premiere episode of “Leverage” season 5 at the Evergreen Aviation Museum’s incredible digital theater.  In attendance was Executive Producer Dean Devlin and Co-Producer Jose Behar along with founder of Evergreen Aviation Dell Smith.  The screening was held at Evergreen because much of the first episode takes place at the museum.  The Leverage team pulls off a con to steal the legendary Howard Hughes aircraft The Spruce Goose which is housed at the Aviation Museum.  Continue reading... “With Premiere of Season 5 of “Leverage” Stealing the Spruce Goose, Evergreen Aviation Museum Gets Nice Exposure”

Film Friendly Portland Featured in Starlight Parade

The Team Featured on the Float

Thanks to the efforts of many local crew and vendors this year, a float featuring “Grimm” and the many families working in Oregon’s film industry was in this year’s Starlight Parade. Naturally the Lawson family was front and center but also included on the float was Sarah Burton, Crofton Dyack, Michael Koerner, several cast members from “Grimm” and others.  I’m not sure who was the person wearing the cat mask from the show but they seemed to have a good time.  Continue reading... “Film Friendly Portland Featured in Starlight Parade”

Let Them Eat (Local) Cake!

Christi Wright-Ross, Jan Wright and Shawn Ross of Wrightberry's Cakes & Cupcakes

With the large number of artisanal culinary talent in Oregon, it was no surprise that we were able to find an amazing local cake designer to create a masterpiece for the Grimm, Season 2 celebratory kick off press conference event.  The storybook cake was made by hand from the local designer, Wrightberry’s Cakes & Cupcakes in Oregon City.

We contacted Jan Wright (owner and designer of Wrightberry’s) only last week.  Continue reading... “Let Them Eat (Local) Cake!”

Paris loves Portland (and its TV shows)

In case you hadn’t heard, there was a 10 day festival celebrating Portland’s arts, culture and music scene recently and Portland Monthly has a great recap here.  Travel Portland was there selling the city as a great destination and when Laura Guimond was in the Paris metro she saw this poster.  Pretty cool huh?

Ok So I don’t understand French but if you do, here’s a clip covering the event and Portland.

New Startup “The Digits” is Greenlighted for Rebates from the Oregon Governor’s Office of Film & TV

Last week, web series creator Scotty Iseri received some good news on the startup venture he’s bringing into existence in September 2012; The Oregon Governor’s Office of Film & Television granted Iseri’s newest project, The Digits, to be the office’s first Next Generation media project to receive production rebates through the Indiginous Production Fund.

The Digits is an interactive “Appisode”, that involves a trio of lovable live action characters who travel the galaxy fighting evil. Iseri’s mission with The Digits is two-fold in helping 7-to-13 year olds love math and to feel good about their intelligence.

The Northwest’s Inimitable Film Version of a Garage Band

In the late 1960’s of Eugene, Oregon, we started a film company in a Garage. Kind of like the beginnings of Nirvana and Microsoft, you know? It was an old auto-mechanic garage with 2 bay doors and a ticket office inside. We had the Movieola in the back room, now famous for the auditions we held there for the “Animal House” sorority sisters in the Pillow-Fight Scene. At the time, I had rented the Ticket Office inside the Garage for $25 a month, and it was literally just big enough for a desk and a chair. Lot’s of Good Oregon Film and Television Available this Weekend

We’ve been highlighting mostly the fine Oregon based television work that has been airing recently but this weekend not only is there “Grimm” and “Portlandia” but the feature film “Gone” produced by Lakeshore Entertainment premieres in theaters this weekend.  Harold Phillips’ blog Oregon Film And TV Dollars put up a good post about the film yesterday.  He also found a great clip from star Amanda Seyfried’s appearance on Jay Leno where she brought Voodoo Donuts to the show.  Here’s the clip with her raving about Voodoo and Portland.
