Oregon Animation: Call for Submissions

UPDATE: Deadline extended to 5 PM on Monday, May 23th 2011!

Following the successful effort to create a voice for the Oregon Film and Television community in this blog, we recently convened a group of Oregon animation and visual effects professionals that we know, and asked them how a site dedicated to their segment of the industry might be received. After lots of lively conversation and great ideas, it became clear that there was great interest, and that it would be very helpful for drawing attention to the fact that Oregon has more than just great locations, amazing acting and crew talent, and not to mention, a terrific film incentive program. Sean’s AC, Gaffer, Set Designer/Builder, Costumer, and a few other positions all came from Corvallis. Ryan E Walters as Cinematographer and Christina Kortum for make-up came from the Portland area. Continue reading... “Corvallis Oregon Great Locations, Talent, and Crews”

Portland Police helps the Wardrobe Dept. for “Grimm”

Yesterday on the KGW 6:00 news was this piece.  The Portland Police Department has been a great partner on two recent television Pilots – first “Brain Trust” and now “Grimm”.  Having the cooperation of organizations like the Portland Police department make Oregon a friendlier place to film.  Hopefully it’s a winning proposition for the bureau as well.  It was also great to have KGW pick up the story and let’s hope the “Grimm” ends up on KGW’s primetime lineup in the fall! Blue Like Jazz Shooting in Portland

Over four years ago, Steve Taylor and Ben Pearson sat down and wrote “Blue Like Jazz” a feature based on Donald Miller’s New York Times bestselling memoir by the same name.

We caught up with the crew on the set yesterday (they are shooting one more week in the Portland metro area).  They were excited to be seeing their project finally come to life and the whole funding route really is a great story in and of itself.  After Don Miller announced the project was dead due to lack of funding, a Kickstarter campaign began and after a while they were right there at the top of the leader-board.  Continue reading... “Blue Like Jazz Shooting in Portland”
