Portland Anthem

Devin Stinson and Donald Cobbs, both agree and understand that Portland is such an amazingly unique and diverse city, unlike any other in the nation, and they wanted to create an anthem that highlighted all of those things.

Donald Cobbs came to Portland when he was 7yrs. old. He was here prior to the building of the Memorial Coliseum, during a time where the only sports team that represented Portland, was the Portland Buckaroos. That was also during the time in which the Portland Zoo received a new resident, an elephant which was affectionately named Packy, and the closest thing to an anthem was the “Zoo Key Song.” Continue reading... “Portland Anthem”

Lighting Workshop by Gary Nolton

Lighting Workshop
with Cinematographer Gary Nolton

Lighting is about more than providing enough illumination for a good exposure, it is a vital element of the art of filmmaking. Artfully applied light adds texture, depth and shape to everything within a scene. With the DSLR revolution, filmmaking is becoming more about imagination and less about expensive equipment. Yet while these cameras require far less light than their film counterparts, if the cinematography is not enhancing the story then a major piece of the film making equation is missing. The Northwest’s Inimitable Film Version of a Garage Band

In the late 1960’s of Eugene, Oregon, we started a film company in a Garage. Kind of like the beginnings of Nirvana and Microsoft, you know? It was an old auto-mechanic garage with 2 bay doors and a ticket office inside. We had the Movieola in the back room, now famous for the auditions we held there for the “Animal House” sorority sisters in the Pillow-Fight Scene. At the time, I had rented the Ticket Office inside the Garage for $25 a month, and it was literally just big enough for a desk and a chair.
