Oregon Humanities is now accepting proposals for our Community Storytelling Fellowship. We’re looking for people who belong to communities that are underrepresented in Oregon media to share stories from those communities in our magazine and other publications in 2024.
The Oregon Film Museum seeks to inspire the next generation of storytellers in Oregon. We are excited to announce the “Oregon Film Museum Selig Award” that will be presented annually to a young Oregonian involved in the local film industry.
Partnering with “Outside the Frame” we have identified the first recipient: Fevan “Rose” Solomon.

“Every year is an honor to watch films shared with the Portland Film Festival presented by Comcast,” said Joe Stevens, the 30-year-old self-described Afro-Indigenous Director of Programming. “The talent always blows me away: risk-taking and authentic storytelling. We never have enough theater screens to include all the great films we find.”
For the 11th rendition of the Klamath Independent Film Festival, Oregon’s lone film fest that exclusively showcases Made-in-Oregon shorts and feature-length films, over 50 selected films will be presented in-person and online Sept. 22-24.
Organized by Klamath Film, a 501c3 nonprofit that serves as the film liaison office for Klamath County, the festival draws filmmakers and film fans from across the state to Klamath Falls for a three-day celebration of films made across Oregon over the past year. This year’s festival has accepted over 50 films – the most in the festival’s history – necessitating additional online exclusives alongside a full slate of film screenings to be held at the Ross Ragland Theater. A night of shorts films showcasing the talents of filmmakers from the PNW. We are highlighting the unique perspective and films of underrepresented artists. Join us in creating a space for creative celebration here in Oregon.
On-screen representation affects cultural understanding of BIPOC, women, and LGBTQ+ characters. Barriers need to be broken down until equal representation is achieved on-screen and behind the camera.
BendFilm’s Grant will support a BIPOC women artist with $20,000 toward making their short or feature film. The grant supports storytellers who are working to tell creative and complex stories told from a point of view that is unique and authentic.
PassinArt Theatre is having their second biennial Pacific Northwest Multicultural Readers Series & Film Festival Thursday – Sunday, August 17-20, 2023 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Portland, Oregon.
The festival will be a jam-packed, four-day whirlwind of wall-to-wall readings, screenings, masterclasses and panel discussions addressing the issues of the day as they shape theaters of color, television, and film.

Applications are now open for PAM CUT‘s Sustainability Labs. U.S. based multidisciplinary creators, media artists, directors, and producers looking to change their personal model of creative, financial, and business sustainability are invited to apply.
Application deadline is July 1, 2023.
Preference will be given to mid-career artists, storytellers, and creative producers who have completed at least one significant project in at least two disciplines or mediums. Alternatively, applicants who have completed work on a project and are now in significant development in a new medium, form, or format will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
A program designed to enable mid-career and emerging artists working in film, audio storytelling, immersive realities, performance, animation, etc, the opportunity to develop or continue working upon a new project utilizing resources available to them through PAM CUT including classroom space, gear, marketing, professional support, and an opportunity for exhibition.
Each residency lasts for 3 months and the artist will receive a $2500 stipend.
