HouseSpecial’s Stop-Motion Short Takes ‘Best Animated Film’ At Oregon Independent Film Festival

[vimeo]https://vimeo.com/154092195[/vimeo]Aaron Sorenson, a Director at Portland animation studio HouseSpecial, received the award for Best Animated Film for the stop-motion short Jailbreak during the award ceremony at The Oregon Independent Film Festival (OIFF) held on September 24, 2016 in Portland’s Clinton Street Theater.

Jailbreak, shot in black and white, follows the daring escape of a desperate prisoner fleeing his nightmarish cell in pursuit of sweet punishment.  Written and directed by Sorenson, this short is a German Expressionist-inspired design mash-up of stop motion with a 2D design sensibility … and a decidedly adult twist. In collaboration with PDXART, and many other partners (please see list below) a new exhibit is up on Concourse E, at the Portland International Airport this week.  The exhibit showcases “vignettes” of artifacts, props and images from just a few of the 400+ feature films & television shows that have utilized Oregon as their production backdrop over the years.  From the early silent era films like “Fisherman’s Bride” (shot in Astoria, 1908), to “Grimm”, the popular NBC television series currently shooting in Portland, Oregon has played an important role in production. Christian Kane (“Librarians”) today launched a new site for his soon be released web based show, “Kane’s Kitchen“.  Kane’s popularity was evident when the site crashed twice within 12 hours of launching.  Kane’s business partner and producer on the project is Oregonian, Jose Behar (“Leverage” and “Librarians”).  The Pander Bros were responsible for the animated sequences in the trailer. Congratulations Nathan Cherrington and his wife, Lisa, The Governators, who trounced all comers at the 5-hour croquet tournament of the OMPA Classic powered by Zarr Studios. The Governators, representing the Oregon Governor’s Office of Film and Television, upset Barefoot Bullseyes Signa Cheney and Curtis Kidwell of Bullseye Disc, who were in fact as barefoot as they advertised. TNT Gives Green Light for New 10 Episode Series, “The Librarians”, to Shoot in Oregon

TNT has given the green light for a 10 episode order of a new drama series, “The Librarians”, (a follow up to the movie trilogy, “The Librarian“).  Electric Entertainment produced the trilogy, and is also taking on “The Librarians”.  TNT and Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment are no strangers to Oregon, having shot all but one season of “Leverage” here.  We are thrilled to welcome them back, with the cast and crew in place and ready to start work.
