City Of Oregon City Joins The Oregon Film Trail

James Graham and Matthew Weintraub (City of Oregon City) unveil the newest Oregon Film Trail sign.

A brand new Oregon Film Trail sign has been installed and was unveiled today in Oregon City, honoring the town’s starring role as a location in the popular teen drama, “Twilight.” It sits along the McLoughlin Promenade, overlooking the former Blue Heron Paper Mill where scenes from the iconic vampire movie were shot. In our series of blog posts – the “New Normal” – we are looking at what creative options have been put in place to offset the disruption that Covid-19 has caused for production businesses here in Oregon.  This month we caught up with Christina Kortum at Ravenous Studios.

Ravenous Studios is one of the Pacific Northwest’s go-to character makeup and prop-making shop based in Portland, Oregon, and now also Los Angeles.  Ravenous is owned and operated by Christina “CK” Kortum and offers a wide variety of makeup fx to all levels of budget.

#OregonMade Mural And Film Poster Exhibit At The Portland International Airport Gets A Refresh

The #OregonMade Mural and Poster Exhibit has been up in the Portland International Airport’s south pedestrian tunnel for two years now, (located underground between baggage claims 3 and 4, connecting the parking garage to the terminal). The mural and exhibit provide travelers with over 160 uninterrupted feet of art and film posters, representing a small collection of Oregon’s rich film history. Recently four new posters were added to the exhibit, “Shrill”, “Trinkets”, “Phoenix, Oregon” and “Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made” in a planned “refresh” to add in more projects that recently filmed in Oregon. Oregon Film: Who We Are and What We Do (Update 2019)

Film CommissionThis has become something of a tradition, at least in our minds. As we come to the end of another fiscal year, we want to take a moment and reflect on some of the things we have been able to accomplish during the past year and hopefully come up with some improvements for the next.

Spotlight On Location Professional – Mathew Noack

Mathew Noack at the top of the Gorge, Oregon.
Born and raised a boy scout in rural Oregon, Mathew Noack is a true son of the state. Upon graduating high school, he dug deep into the Oregon soil, pulled up his roots and posted sail. Catching eastward winds, he landed in Colorado, Texas and eventually Florida. This is where he completed his film degree at what was then Full Sail Real World Education, now Full Sail University.
Returning to Oregon, he spent seven years trying to find a sustainable place for himself in the media production industry.

By creating  this exhibit, we hope to aptly celebrate the unique and varied locations Oregon has to offer, the projects that have called Oregon home over the years, and the professional production communities that come together to make Oregon so film-friendly. #OregonMade Netflix Series, “Everything Sucks” Will Premiere Feb 16th, 2018

Everything Sucks” is the latest #OregonMade series to hit TV screens and set to air February 16th.  This newest Netflix series is described as a high school coming-of-age dramedy, set in the late 1990’s in Boring, Oregon.  It shot 10 episodes last year in Oregon City, Boring and Fort Rock.

“Everything Sucks” was created by Ben York Jones, and Michael Mohan, and is produced by Midnight Radio.  The series is described as a, “quirky, funny coming-of-age story that follows two groups of high school misfits, an A/V club and a Drama club who collide in 1996 Oregon.
