Hopefully, wherever you are, you will be in the dark on Saturday, 23rd March, between the hour of 8.30 and 9.30PM!  Join many from around the world and turn off your lights in honor of The World Wildlife Fund’s Earth Hour 2013.

Now in its second year, the WWF’s Earth Hour challenge aims to empower individuals, businesses and even governments to bring a lasting conversation and commitment to environmental issues.  Earth Hour describes their challenge best, “The idea is simple.

New film adapted from story by Fight Club author, Chuck Palahniuk now available on VOD

Today is an exciting day for fans of Chuck Palahniuk films—Yes, films. Up until now, Fight Club and Choke were the only two adaptations you could find of Chuck’s work.  But Portland-based, writer/director Andy Mingo went and changed all that with his  26-minute, short film adaption of ‘Romance.’

Read on last year’s book tour, ‘Romance’ is easily one of Chuck’s strongest and funniest short stories.  It’s both heartbreaking and hysterical at the same time, and starting on March 19, you can find it on Video On Demand at:

Phrenic: A Futuristic Thriller for Mobile

Phrenic, my futuristic thriller made in Portland, premiered in the App Store this week. Not in a theater. Not on YouTube. In the same App Store where you go to download Temple Run or Angry Birds.

I began thinking about creating a story for mobile devices last year when I realized I was watching fewer feature films but binge-viewing full seasons of compelling TV shows. What if I could make a miniature version of this experience? Smaller in terms of budget and scale, but also shorter episodes that could be watched on the bus or–let’s face it–in the bathroom.

JumperCut SxSW Adventure

Here we are on Sunday, looking back on the fact that the last JumperCut goes to SXSW blog entry we put in was about last Monday, and it’s obvious that SXSW became e blur… a blur of music, films, sessions, parties and nonstop interesting conversations.  The JumperCut team was all together on Tuesday, and then a couple of our team members had to leave so only Andrew, Ben and Phil remained.  This last SXSW update is a summary of the experience from our final few days, and some take-aways.

Action Essentials for Actors March 24th!

This is the final reminder for the upcoming Action Essentials for Actors workshop, Sunday, March 24th!

With more film incentives for Oregon, producers are looking at Portland to shoot upcoming shows and films, most of which require actors to perform their own basic action. But the actor MUST know the essentials.

In class, we’ll cover the action essentials actors need to walk onto set, giving you an edge over the competition. We’ll break down, recreate, and shoot and action scene from NBC’s hit show, Grimm.

Jumpercut Goes To SxSW: Monday

We’ve been having quite a week here at SXSW! It is absolutely insane how DENSE this event is. Everyone taking part in SX is just going about their own business and probably only hitting up about 15% of the events available to badge holders, ourselves included.
On Monday, we split up our 5 man team to cover more ground and go about our networking, promoting, and general experiencing (and capturing) of SXSW. here is a link to our vlog activity: http://d1u7aelnb7b19r.cloudfront.net/21375560-1417-47e0-a91d-1047800db558.mp4

JumperCut SXSW Sunday VLOG n BLOG

Sunday was an interesting beast of a day all its own. We were all so caught up in meetings and panels all day! Good problems to have. One of the heads of Vimeo gave a talk with the creator of Star Wars: Uncut and both stopped by for demonstrations of our software with great curiosity. 🙂 I was personally editing video as it arrived in our dropbox from a graphic designer from one of our clients for most of the day, but still managed to run into Marc Maron near the PBS party and saw Paul Walker at the Fandango Lounge.

JumperCut At SXSW Saturday!

It’s Sunday morning and since the rest of the JumperCut team is still sleeping (the change in the clocks wasn’t kind to us), I thought I would take this opportunity to write a little bit about our experience yesterday and so far at South by Southwest. The JumperCut team members are all newbies to SxSW, and so we’re just settling into what is an enormous event, where it seems as though the entire city of austin is nothing but orange, blue, silver, black and green laniards and badges, lines of people around the block for various events, and the spotting of a movie star here and there.
