Seaside – the movie.
After being born and raised in Portland, I moved east for college and film school. I love coming back to Portland to visit family and friends but for the past 20 years New York has been my home. That old cliché that you can never come home again ringed true for me.

My first feature, You Belong to Me, came out in 2008. Since then I’ve been itching to do another feature. And inspired by the resourcefulness of many colleagues (especially NYU film school colleagues, Annie Howell and Lisa Robinson – find their new feature, Claire in Motion, which just premiered at SXSW) I’ve come home to take advantage of Oregon’s natural beauty, talented creatives, and a family beach house at the Coast, to make my next feature, Seaside.

Production & Post Intern Position At Northwest Documentary

nwdocumentary.artist Co-operative intern position working with non-profit organization and documentary production about gentrification in Portland, Ore.

This position will split time between work for NW Documentary Arts & Media and their in -house projects and working with the resident filmmaker of the Indie Doc Incubator program.

NW Documentary is a non-profit that practices, teaches, and shares the art of non-fiction storytelling. NW Doc offers post-production and photography classes and produces its own independent documentary productions. More at www.NWdocumentary.org

The Indie Doc Incubator program at NW Doc is currently hosting journalist and filmmaker Cornelius Swart, the producer of Priced Out a documentary on gentrification and affordable housing in Portland, Ore.

“Green Room” graces the cover of MovieMaker Magazine’s latest edition (spring 2016) and delves into an-depth interview with director, Jeremy Saulnier about how the film came together.

Noah Wyle, Executive Producer, “The Librarians”, announced that he will be back in Oregon for Season 3, and this time will be writing and directing, as well acting, in a handful of episodes. Read more here.

iOPIF to Begin Accepting New Applications May 2, 2016

July 1st will mark the beginning of a new fiscal year and a new round of funding for our film incentive programs. As a result, we are preparing to open up the application process for our “local filmmaker” program, commonly referred to as the Indigenous Oregon Production Investment Fund (iOPIF).

We will begin reviewing and accepting iOPIF applications on May 2nd, 2016. Our iOPIF Advisory Committee will evaluate all applications submitted between May 2nd and May 6th as having been submitted at the same time and allocate the limited iOPIF funds accordingly.

Roy W. Dean 2016 Spring Film Grant Now Accepting Submissions

The Film Grant Where You Win Even If You Lose

Now in its 24rd year, the Roy W. Dean Film Grant seeks films that are unique and make a contribution to society. The winner receives $3,500 cash and close to $30,000 in donated film products and services they can use to complete their film. Films can be documentaries, short films, features, or webisodes. Deadline for submission is April 30th, 2016.

A new donor for this year’s grant is Promedia, a full service production and post production facility located in the heart of Manhattan.
