iOPIF to Begin Accepting New Applications May 2, 2016

July 1st will mark the beginning of a new fiscal year and a new round of funding for our film incentive programs. As a result, we are preparing to open up the application process for our “local filmmaker” program, commonly referred to as the Indigenous Oregon Production Investment Fund (iOPIF).

We will begin reviewing and accepting iOPIF applications on May 2nd, 2016. Our iOPIF Advisory Committee will evaluate all applications submitted between May 2nd and May 6th as having been submitted at the same time and allocate the limited iOPIF funds accordingly.

Fox12 has also been highlighting Oregon crew, vendors and services in their “More Good Morning Oregon” segment – highlights are: Spydercam, 360 Lab’s VR technology, stuntman Kent Lutrell, propmaster Tim Oakley, and SPFX makeup for Grimm, Ravenous Studios.

Roy W. Dean 2016 Spring Film Grant Now Accepting Submissions

The Film Grant Where You Win Even If You Lose

Now in its 24rd year, the Roy W. Dean Film Grant seeks films that are unique and make a contribution to society.  The winner receives $3,500 cash and close to $30,000 in donated film products and services they can use to complete their film.  Films can be documentaries, short films, features, or webisodes. Deadline for submission is April 30th, 2016.

A new donor for this year’s grant is Promedia, a full service production and post production facility located in the heart of Manhattan.

Fox 12’s More Good Day Oregon, went behind the scenes to examine the creative excellence that goes into the creation the monsters of “Grimm”.  Christina Kortum (Ravenous Studios) creates and assists Barney Burman (B2FX) on the Wesen creature creations using prosthetics. [La Grande, OR] Eastern Oregon Film Festival will be presenting its seventh annual event October 20-22, 2016 in La Grande, Oregon. Making the move back to October, where the festival began, has organizers and supporters excited.

“October is a great time for the festival, so we’re glad it found its way back to autumn. Not only is this one of the most beautiful seasons in La Grande, the calendar jump creates a fantastic opportunity for EOU students to engage with the fest,  the community and downtown businesses.

5th Annual Deauville Green Awards Are Accepting Submissions – Got Green?

Got Green?  “The fight and adaptation to climate change, preservation of the biodiversity, energy transition, sustainable agriculture as well as transport and eco-mobility are only some issues of the commercials, image films and documentaries which will be presented at the 5th edition of the Deauville Green Awards on June 15th & 16th. As the largest green showcase in Europe, the festivals shows three competition programs which are dealing with sustainability, eco-innovations and social responsibilty.

Until 2nd of April, directors, producers, TV stations as well as companies and organizations can submit their films in 14 different categories which include eco-tourism and responsible travel, sustainable producing and circular economy, responsible consumption and eco-labels, health and living environment, organizations and social responsibility, handicap, diversity, solidarity, innovations and technological leaps, demographic transition and dependence.

Hollywood Theatre @PDX Looking For Shorts

The Hollywood Theatre is coming to the Portland International Airport (PDX) in 2016!

In partnership with the Port of Portland, the Hollywood Theatre is creating a movie theatre space in the airport’s C Concourse. The Hollywood Theatre @PDX will feature short films telling stories specific to Oregon, provide artist residency opportunities inviting collaboration between national/international media artists and local filmmakers, and host special events and visiting guests. Currently slated to open in summer 2016, the Hollywood Theatre @PDX will serve the Portland International Airport’s 16 million annual visitors, who can drop in free of charge to watch films while waiting for their flights.

Call for Entries for the 43rd Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival

– The Northwest Film Center asks filmmakers based in the Northwest region to submit their recent work for consideration for the 43rd Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival (NW Fest). The Festival is the longest running Festival in the region and was named one of Moviemaker Magazine’s Top 20 Coolest Festivals in 2013.

The 43rd Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival continues the Film Center’s tradition of bringing moving image artists of the Northwest together to share ideas, discover resources available to them, inspire, be inspired and to showcase their finest work to greater audiences.

What better way to kick off our new Reverse Angle series, highlighting heroes working behind the lens, than a screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens followed by long time model shop guru Fon Davis joining us from LA to present “The Secret Models of Star Wars.”  This is a can’t miss event that gives us one last chance to catch Star Wars on OMSI’s four story Empirical Theater screen, and simultaneously gets us primed for the onslaught of Design Week with some serious film-making shop talk.
