Initial Plans for Film Tax Credit Auction Announced

As we get closer to the OPIF tax credit auction, new information on the Film Tax Credit Auction is available.  Below is the most current details on how this auction will proceed:



The total amount of tax credits that will be auctioned is $6million

Film Festival Update: PIFF, POW Fest, Ashland, Bend, Cinema Pacific

This week the the 35th Portland International Film Festival begins its three week celebration of cinema from all over the globe.  The festival begins on Thursday night (February 9) with the film “Salmon Fishing In The Yemen” which was directed by Lasse Hallstrom.  For a complete listing of the films and schedule, click here.

Superbowl Ads Once Again Have an Oregon Connection

MoPix – Setting out to Create a Post-DVD Experience – Demos at PIE Demo Day

This past year Portland Headquartered Ad Agency Weiden + Kennedy had a realization.  They needed to be better connected to innovative tech startups.  So what did they do?  They freed up some office space and started their own startup incubator called the Portland Incubator Experiment.  With the help of several brands including Coca-Cola, Target, and Google, W+K invited entrepreneurs to apply for a three month stay along with $18,000 and access to some top mentors in the startup world.  Today at Portland’s Bagdad Theater, the first round of companies will present their ideas and products to potential investors, media, and the public. “Leverage” Readies to Move into a New Stage Space for Season 5

Next year for season 5 of “Leverage,” expect a few changes including a new location for the show’s stages.  The truth is the new space is actually an old one that has been frequently used as a stage for several features in the past (“Extraordinary Measures,” “Twilight,” and “Untraceable”).  Before this season, the space down in Clackamas was 60,000 square feet of open warehouse space which wasn’t ideal for a TV series.  This fall the team at “Leverage” took over the space and are dividing it into three usable production spaces. OpenLens Festival Deadline December 2nd

Eugene, OR. Friday, December 2nd is the deadline for submitting entries to the 8th Annual OpenLens Festival 2012. This year’s festival has two categories. The short film competition is for productions of 15 minutes or less in length. The screen writing competition welcomes film scripts of 15 pages or less with an emphasis on the short narrative film genre. Entries for both must be received by DIVA by 5PM on December 2nd. On the New York Times “Couch-Potato Menu” for This Weekend’s Viewing: “Jingle All the Way”

A nice review in The New York Times for the holiday special, “Jingle All The Way”.  Bent Image Lab, a Portland, Oregon company, produced this 22 minute animated short for the Hallmark Channel over a six month period.  It is set to premier this Friday 25th.

OpenLens Festival adds Screenwriting Competition

Eugene, OR. The eighth annual OpenLens Festival is pleased to announce the addition of a scriptwriting competition for 2012. Rubicon Film Productions Ltd., a Eugene based company, is sponsoring a special $250 best screenplay prize for a short narrative film. Submitted scripts of 15 pages or less will be accepted. This competition is open to both those Oregon filmmakers entering the OpenLens film competition and screenwriters whose scripts have not yet been produced.
