Welcome To PixAir!

mockup3

When Perry sent me an email letting me know that he had purchased a jet airliner mock up I knew I had to go check it out.  While one or two options for filming in an airliner exist, none present an option that is logistically straight forward and simple.  Shooting inside a real plane is of course the most realistic but the process is complex.  Everything, including all crew and equipment, must pass through security and the crew is matched up with TSA agents inside and outside on the tarmac. Tips For Renting Your ‘Hot Property’ As A Film Location

Filming “Train Master 2” in Portland

Of the five major broadcast television networks’ 23 new one-hour dramas offered up last year, only two were filmed in Hollywood. State tax incentives from outside California have successfully lured many productions to other economies, and created a growing market for a variety of property owners in Oregon as location providers. Indicating the extent to which films are made outside the confines of studio lots in America, about five years ago- when California still commanded the lion’s share of the film location market -Los Angeles County issued permits for over 30,000 film location days, with about 75% of Southern California’s location filming shooting in private residences. Makeup Artistry Bill Unanimously Passed By The House and Senate

Senate Bill 836 will exempt hair and makeup artists working on professional photo shoots, film, television, or theater productions from unnecessary and unrelated licensing requirements, thereby helping Oregon remain competitive in these prospering industries. The Bill is now awaiting the Governor’s signature.

I am proud to be a working makeup artist in Oregon. The Oregon law stated that I wasn’t allowed to charge for makeup services without an esthetician license, a license that requires the skills of someone who works in a salon, waxing and doing facials. Free Spirit Lori Lewis Returns to Portland Casting

Lori Lewis of Free Spirit Casting at Stage 13

Early last year, when Lori Lewis ran into Leverage producer Paul Bernard at a Hollywood Theater event, “He flat-out asked,” recalls Lewis, “Are you back yet?” The erstwhile casting director had to admit to her urge to return to the work she adores, promising, “Next year, after knee surgery.” This week, Oregon’s film industry welcomes Lori Lewis, plus one new knee, back into the casting scene. Lewis says, “I’m super excited to be back, and so overwhelmed by everyone’s warm embrace that I feel incredibly blessed and fortunate.” Continue reading... “Free Spirit Lori Lewis Returns to Portland Casting”

Featured Oregon Location: Yaquina Head (via GigaPan)

Oregon has many, viable location “looks” and not always what one might expect. The more obvious ones we have in abundance; rivers, mountains, trees, coast, lakes and farmland. Less known are; high desert, western style towns, sand dunes, gritty urban areas, vineyards, canyons and volcanic lava. We will be highlighting a specific Oregon location in each quarterly newsletter, and have partnered with Oregon company, GigaPan, by using their robotic mount technology to take detailed and vivid panoramic location pictures.

Our featured location this time is the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. Continue reading... “Featured Oregon Location: Yaquina Head (via GigaPan)”
