FILMBUFF TAKES ON “CELL COUNT”
Sci-Fi Thriller to be released on digital platforms November, 2012
(New York, NY – July 27, 2012) FilmBuff has come onboard to digitally distribute the sci-fi horror film festival favorite, Cell Count from filmmaker Todd E. Freeman (Two Fisted and Pray for Hell), starring Robert McKeehen (“Leverage”), Haley Talbot (“Grimm”), Ted Rooney (“Boardwalk Empire”) and Daniel Baldwin (Grey Gardens).
The film, which had its world premiere at the 2012 Fantaspoa Film Festival in Brazil, is the story of Russell Carpenter, a man who reluctantly admits his wife Sadie into an experimental treatment facility for her life-threatening disease. Today the Emmy Nominations were announced and “Portlandia” came away with two big nominations. The show was nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. Writers Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein, Jonathan Kreisel and Karey Dornetto were all listed in the nomination. The show was also recognized for Outstanding Directing in a Variety Series thanks to Jonathan Kreisel’s amazing direction. The episode Jonathan was recognized for was “One Moore Episode” which was voted by the fans as the best episode to date. If you only get to one event for Oregon’s film and television industry this year, you should make it out to Indian Creek Golf Course in Hood River for the OMPA Classic this Friday. The event benefits the Oregon Media Production Association, an institution of Oregon’s crew, vendors, producers and actors that for 30-years has advocated for growth in Oregon’s production industry.

This past Wednesday I was kindly invited to attend a private sneak peak of the premiere episode of “Leverage” season 5 at the Evergreen Aviation Museum’s incredible digital theater. In attendance was Executive Producer Dean Devlin and Co-Producer Jose Behar along with founder of Evergreen Aviation Dell Smith. The screening was held at Evergreen because much of the first episode takes place at the museum. The Leverage team pulls off a con to steal the legendary Howard Hughes aircraft The Spruce Goose which is housed at the Aviation Museum. The 39th Northwest Filmmakers’ Festival continues the Film Center’s tradition of bringing moving image artists of the Northwest together to share ideas, discover resources, inspire, be inspired, and to showcase their finest work to greater audiences. Submit your recent work for consideration!
The entry deadline is Monday, August 1 (postmark) and the Festival runs November 9-17. Entries are judged by a prominent filmmaker, curator, or critic who determines the Festival awards.
