Stand By Me Day – July 23rd – Brownsville

Every year July 23rd is Stand By Me Day in Brownsville.  This year, due to Covid restrictions and not being able to gather a crowd, Historic Brownsville is hoping that fans will come on their own to celebrate this beloved movie.  Although there will not be a blueberry pie-eating contest this year fans can walk around town exploring the Oregon Film Trail stops, see the many scene locations from this beloved movie and play a geocache game. A printed map and SetJetters movie scenes will be available. Continue reading... “Stand By Me Day – July 23rd – Brownsville”

For The Love Of Oregon Film!

My wife and I are career Youtubers. We travel the country in a 34′ class A Winnebago, documenting our adventures all the way. Between us, we host three channels. I am That Nate Guy on YouTube, Marion is Life Unboxed, and together we are Romancing The States. We recently had the honor of falling in love with the beautiful state of Oregon when the engine in our RV gave out while traversing the mountains of California. Instead of planting ourselves in a boring hotel for 2 months awaiting the repairs, we continued on our journey, exploring Oregon in our little yellow Pontiac G5. Oregon Film: Who We Are And What We Do – 2021

We are finally seeing the light at the end of a very long tunnel for many of us. This doesn’t mean the work is done or there won’t be challenges and changes going forward, but it does mean that we are starting to see more opportunity and more creativity in all areas of our industry here in Oregon.

We’ve highlighted several stories about our community’s resilience through “The New Normal” series from local companies like Talented Animals, Ravenous Studios, Limbo Films, The Art of Make-up School, PDXpendables, Cast Iron Studios, Koerner Camera and Picture This. Stories From The Oregon Film Trail – Film Tourism Is Thriving In Brownsville

In recent years, Film Tourism is growing into a more robust niche sector of cultural tourism, and remarkably Oregon has hundreds of incredible locations that have starred in films, TV series, and shows, as well as commercials. The Oregon Film Trail has been slowly rolling out more and more trail stops that highlight our State’s contribution to the film industry.  Historic Brownsville was one of the first towns to welcome Oregon Film Trail signs in recognition of its contribution to the film, “Stand By Me “.   Continue reading... “Stories From The Oregon Film Trail – Film Tourism Is Thriving In Brownsville”

University of Oregon Coeds Made The Very First Student Feature Film

Filming of “Ed’s Coed” on the University of Oregon campus, with student actors sitting on the Senior Bench during a break between scenes.

It is a forgotten piece of film history for all but the staunchest of aficionados, and its box office draw was almost nonexistent; yet a little-known feature film in the last thralls of the silent film era stands as a remarkable footnote in history as the first feature-length student film ever made – completed by University of Oregon students. When in Doubt – Documentary on our Divides

When in Doubt
A new documentary about the importance of difficult conversations and the benefits of doubt.

The Signal Productions is making a documentary with the aim of helping improve dialogue across ideological divides and strengthening relationships. We are working with one of the authors of How to Have Impossible Conversations, Peter Boghossian, who will be coaching our documentary subjects to improve their ability to communicate. The film will feature amazing people like Daryl Davis, self-described race reconciliator, who was able to get over 200 people to leave behind hateful organizations like the KKK just through dialogue and by befriending them.
