That’s what you keep telling yourself. Well, why wait another year or another day?
The Northwest Film Center School of Film is offering an array of weeknight and weekend hands-on classes, starting throughout January. Write that romance you’re always thinking about, launch that documentary, meet other aspiring makers and creatives, get a leg up on entry level opportunities within the film scene, animate with an Oscar-winning director, or geek out with Super 8mm film (they still do that? YES!) and other technical workshops. Continue reading... “Stop Talking about your Film and Make It.”
Colour Box Makeup Studios founder Kerry Herta, a 2011 Emmy nominee, returns to the Northwest to teach three workshops geared toward makeup artists seeking expanded knowledge of techniques used on film/TV productions. The following workshops are enrolling now:

Katie and James are still at it in NYC looking to garner more attention for their film “Rid of Me”. Along the way they managed to find their way into a “Breaking Dawn” party. Check it out!
IFC is looking to go bigger and better with season 2 of “Portlandia” and this behind the scenes film is an indication of what we’re going to see in January. I do think the coolest part of this show is that above all it’s a show being made by great friends. The friendship shines through in this piece. Another key element is Jonathan Krisel – the Director and Writer. I will not be surprised to see Jonathan rise up the ranks and become even more successful than he already is. News came out late on Monday that the Portland based NBC drama “Grimm” has been picked up for a full season order with another nine episodes. The news was picked up and spread through Twitter but it looks like the original announcement came on the Entertainment Weekly Site here.
NBC Entertainment President Robert Greenblatt said
“This series is turning the traditional procedural drama on its head and is attracting a loyal following for us on Friday nights. We love where it’s going creatively and we’re excited to deliver more episodes to our audience.”
It doesn’t take long to notice in the trailer that “Gone” was shot in Oregon (lot’s of Portland Police cars). The film was shot here last spring right after the production of the pilot for “Grimm”. From everything we heard, the production went very smoothly. If you’re familiar with Portland at all you’ll notice some familiar locations. Several scenes were shot in the industrial part of inner SE Portland just a few blocks from our office. The film also used the exterior of the empty U.S. Continue reading... ““Gone” Trailer Available – Starring Amanda Seyfried – Shot in Oregon”
Today IFC announced a six city tour for a live “Portlandia” show. It’s a natural addition to this budding franchise. Today’s announcement mentioned that the live show will include special sneak peaks to season 2 as well as behind the scenes stories about the creation of the characters in the show. Given Fred and Carrie’s rich musical background let’s hope they throw a song or two in there as well!
On December 12 at 6:00 PM please join us and Governor John Kitzhaber either in person or at the three teleconference sites to celebrate Oregon’s record breaking year for Film and Television production. We also are holding back a few exciting announcements for this event that will be worth celebrating the future of the industry. We could not have been happier when NBC Universal contacted us to collaborate on their greening efforts for the series, Grimm. We immediately recognized this particular show as a good match and unique opportunity to put the foundation of our previous work in identifying green vendors and services to good use.
